I just (today - several hours ago) finshed building my new machine:

TBird 1ghz
Gigabyte GA-7ZX
CL Annhilator 32
SB Live
Ethernet Card
10 gb maxtor HD
4gb Fujitsu hd
Acrer CDRW

When I booted and checked the temp thought the bios the CPU temp was 59C/138F the system temp was 36C/96F with a fan RPM of 4340. I have never thought of it until now? I dont know the 'normal' temp for TBirds (my first AMD system). Is this temp OK? Thanks for your help
CC

PS Thanks to all who suggested deleting the enum key to forgo formatting my HD, it was a lifesaver.

I think your temp is a bit HIGH. I'm not sure though. The only reference I can Give you is that my DURON 800 On ABIT KT7a runs at 35C Idle and 45C when I run Games. Did you use thermal paste on Your cooler? I reinstalled my Cooler (Crome ORB) with new Thermal paste and lowered temp for 10C. So you might wonna check the cooler instalation.

It does seem a bit high. Not unheard of though. Make sure you use thermal paste from a tube and not the stick on stuff. Sometimes the stick on stuff can become an insulator.

Also: How are you measuring this temperature. If it's a hardware sensor make sure the wire is not between the CPU and the heatsink. It should be in the heatsink.

Finally. I would touch (CAREFULLY) the Heatsink to make sure the reported temperature is accurate.

good luck

Ideally you'd want the CPU temp to be under 50 degrees Celcius for that configuration.
