out now. soldier won a pair of boots. crafting, 2 new maps, and additional changes to spy and scout. no sign of "meet the" movie"

Added new capture the flag map Double Cross

Added work-in-progress TF Bots for beta testing in KOTH maps (blog post coming with more info)

Soldier

Added 35 new Soldier achievements

Added 4 new Soldier items

Added new Soldier Domination lines


Demoman

Added 35 new Demoman achievements

Added 3 new Demoman items

Added new Demoman Domination lines


Spy

Now pretends to be carrying the weapons & wearables of the target he's disguised as

Moved the Spy's camera-beard to the Misc loadout slot so he can equip it with a hat


Scout

The Sandman now only stuns on a max range hit (when you hear the cheering)

All shorter hits now force the enemy into the thirdperson fleeing state (also removed the damage reduction on them)


Minor changes

Added new options to the Multiplayer->Advanced dialog:

Combat text, which displays damage amounts you do to enemies.

Medic auto caller, which automatically shows you nearby friends at low health.

Heal target marker, which better highlights the target your medigun is locked onto.

Alternative Spy disguise menu, which lets you choose disguises using just the 1-3 keys.

Fixed being able to affect friendly pipes with airblast (they would unstick)

Added recharge sound to abilities with a recharge bar

Fixed attachable wearables not staying on ragdolls

Players no longer see the wearables that are a part of a friendly spy's disguise, fixing various graphical glitches

Added jiggle bones for Pyro's chicken hat

Added 2 new game startup songs

They might make both updates at the same time, Soldier and Demoman. The last updates they did were for both the Spy and the Sniper at the same time. I can't wait until they do it for the Engineer, I for one believe that it's pretty much useless to play as an Engineer at the moment, but that's just me. And I have a feeling that the Soldier's update will include a Grenade... time will tell.

So far I think that most of the class updates were good and well balanced, with the exception of Natascha for the Heavy, which is... quite... useless, but the rest is good enough in my book. The only thing that did irked me was the ability for the Scout to stop an Uber, thus rendering the Uber not Uber anymore, you're still invincible but you can't move, so it made the whole «I'm a Medic and I had to survive that long to get my Uber up but chances are it'll be useless thanks to the Scout so I'll switch to the Kritzkrieg instead» debacle quite understandable, but eventually Valve realized it and "fixed" it, but other than that and Natasha I think it's pretty much well nailed. I would say that my favorite update so far has been that of the Medic, very closely followed by the Sniper's.

I'm speaking for myself. It's just weak, in my opinion, in all sense of the word, the structures are cardboard boxes-weak, the Engineer is weak, and the game-play as an Engineer is "weak" (boring). But anyway, debating about this is useless, it's just a matter of personal preferences, I'll see when they update him if it'd actually be fun to play at the very least.

It's going to be a Christmas/Holiday themed thing, not a class update. Gabe said that after the popularity of the Halloween achievements/hats/map, it was likely they would do the same now.

Plus class updates are always preceded by 4-5 days of slowly unveiling the update. We haven't seen that here.

edit: The comic is likely a teaser, saying that the next class update will be soldier and/or demoman.

Just FYI, engineer's the most played class in the game and has been for quite a while now (disregarding the spikes caused by updates for other classes).

Engineers are far from useless, but I think I know what you're getting at - I get bored fast when I play as a traditional engineer. Making a sentry and defending it can become incredibly boring if the rest of your team is aggressive enough that your sentry gets no action.

I don't know if they're useless, but I can only play as engineer for a short while before I get tired of all the other players constantly bitching every time a teleporter goes down, but they do absolutely nothing to watch for spies.

Damn, a Demo update would be crazy. Soldier is my least played class, so not too concerned about that one, but if it's the Demo, look out!

Well I think so far they've been good about keeping it balanced. Every new weapon has had it's compromises.

We don't know definitively if something is coming, but it probably is. Of course it's free, all TF2 content so far has been, there's no reason to believe that would change for this.

I think it's balanced now. Scout always was a strong class if you know how to play it right.

Yea Scout has always overpowered everyone else in the hands of the right player but most people don't know how to play it well so it doesn't matter at all.
