Possible to hook up 2 networks...??

Anyone know if this is possible? If so, how..

this is setup weve got and what i wanna do, Basically i wanna connect our two small networks...



Comp1 , 2, and 3 ----> Router ---> Cable Modem (INTERNET) Cable Modem ----> Router <---- Comp 4, 5, and 6

You mean using the internet as the medium to connect the 2 small networks? It's called VPN (virtual private network).

If you have Win2K Server, I think it (the software) comes bundled as part of IIS... not sure though.

What about just Comp 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 --> Router --> Cable modem?

By router do you mean an actual computer or one of those little Linksys boxes that you just hook into a cable modem?

Sorry, the cable/dsl router from linksys... And 3 computers are in my apt, the other 3 are about 3 miles away at my friend apt..

Set up VPN with W2K. have W2K at each end and use PPTP or LT2P.

Ah, now I understand what you are trying to do...

You could accomplish this with VPNs like N8magic was saying. Do a search on google or follow his links. It's entirely possible....easy? That's a whole different story. Best of luck to you.
