FWIW, I received my 148 from Newegg yesterday and it is a CABYE stepping. It was a retail CPU. I haven't installed or tested it out yet.

I don't know where the top is. I have stopped there because load temps are bumping 48C (my limit) with an XP-90/AS5 ussing OCCT. Games run about 45C max. This is hands down the best cpu I've ever owned....
I use a GSkill memory kit (2x1GB) 2GBZX that is very forgiving and performs well with these San Diego core cpu's. Much, much more forgiving than my prior Mushkin TCC5.

lol. I'm reading your post on the ZX right now @ XS.

I'm a bit skeptical about their quality though. Someone said they were cheap heatspreaders and poor quality RAM.
My next choice would be the $240 Mushkin, but that's $50 more.

I got burned by Mushkin on my last ram, I will not buy from them ever again. I had a Mushkin rep tell me I had a credibilty issue in a public forum, the same one that lied to me before a purchase. Fcku Mushkin....

Just got two of the three 146's I ordered and I must have done something good last week because both turned out to be CABYE 0540's. The first one I tried (FPBW) primed for 8+ hours at 2.8GHz@1.39V and, with very little tweaking, is SuperPi 32M and game stable at 3.05GHz@1.49V. I'll have to fine tune things and see if I can get it Prime stable at those speeds. Load temps were ~39C. This thing definetely runs hotter than my 3700+ SD. It loaded at the same temp only @1.65V.
I'll test the other CABYE 0540 FPAW and a CAB2E 0540 in the next couple weeks and post results.
