Tweakin, you should get a CABYE 0540 FPBW, what mobo do you plan to use with the processor?

UPDATE:
I just got off the phone with one of my distributor reps, and he said he spoke with an AMD field rep about the 1XX opterons.
He said the AMD guy told him that there will indeed be no more shipments through retailers or distributors. Only full systems integrators will get them from now on, for us in pre-built high end server configurations.
The reasoning, so the story goes, is that AMD is pushing for the deliniation between product lines, and they want A64's filling the desktop role, and Opterons filling the server role, PERIOD. Thus, they will only ship to parties who plan to build the opterons into actual servers.
While this still confuses me (i.e. if you want them as servers, why release on the 939 platform?) it's the best information I have up to this point, and does explain why *none* of the distributors have anymore of these, and why thier previously scheduled shipments have failed to appear.
I still can't say for absolute sure that this is definitely going to happen, but all signs are pointing that way now. I'll keep you guys up to date when/if I hear more as well.

Gah, I jumped on one of the 148's for $234 shipped. Would have bought the 144 for $151 had I seen it (diff of $83). Oh well. I figure the 11x over the 9x is worth about $50 or $60 to me anyway.
In the meantime, the prices for the 148s have started increase at Monarch. It's $11 higher now than when I ordered late last night.

Monarch has the 144 retails back in stock for $148. I ordered one around noon today. I really like their new reduced shipping rates. $5 for two day express isn't too shabby. I don't think too horribly of them now

Anyone know if the ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 is a decent mobo for ocing the Opteron?
Absolutely not! My neice wanted that board and an Opteron 146. The 146 could clock to 2.85GHz on air on a A8N32-SLI, but the Asrock board limited it to 2.33GHz stable with 1T MA, and boards max HTT limited it to 2.74GHz 2T MA.

Absolutely WRONG! You need to flash the motherboard with one of the OCW overclocking BIOS's in order to get above 274 HTT. There are LOTS of people overclocking their Opterons on the ASRock 939Dual-SATA2.
