Possibly hot? Monster 500 starter kit for $19.98

Hey guys. Just wanted to get your opinions on whether or not this is a hot deal. Staples has the Monster 500 starter kit for $19.98 on clearance. The lowest price I found on a quick google search was around $90. I'm not sure if this is a really uselfull item or if it's been posted but I thought I might pass it on.

Yeah, it's worth it because of it's low cost, but realistically this isn't far off from what it's truly worth. Monster makes some good stuff, but they're hyping their stuff a bit much, kind of like Bose.

The surge protector alone is worth that price. The other stuff is just a bonus. Monster Cable makes some of the best commercial grade stuff out there. There are better products, but not at Monster's normal price.

Monster is one of those companies that is 99.99% hype. I have yet to find a product that i have been able to see a noticable improvement over the generic equivalent. They don't even make most of their products, they are just rebadges of generics.


EDIT - I'm not trying to discourage or flame... i just don't think that even at this *astounding discount* this is a good deal.

The $19.98 price isn't hot, but if you really want the stuff, try getting it with a coupon - there are printable $10 off $40 email coupons Staples just sent out. This week they also have the Optimum 50pk CD-R for $0.94 AR and a calculator FAR - both good padding for getting your order towards $40.
