Maybe he got them from work and they're supposed to go to employees only, or for salesmen entertaining clients, won them in a raffle, etc. Plenty of plausible reasons that he might act shady. Also, selling stuff on Craigslist is the only chance most people get to act like a CIA agent.

"You wait in the car. After 4 minutes circle the block once and come get me. If anything goes wrong, I'll turn my hat around. If we get split up, we'll meet up at the Whammie Burger later."

Where this guy works there is no client entertaining or raffle going on. He works in a "wherehouse."

nah I got scammed using a similar tactic. Guy's name was Ralph Monroe. I'll never forget.

Guy sold 3 sets of stubhub tix for the same pair of seats. I got a bad feeling about it too so I made sure I came to the venue early to get in first.

I did, and throughout the first 2 hours 2 other couples tried to come and sit in said seats. We all bought the tix from the same guy (Ralph). I was really surprised they even got into the venue...

call ticketmaster, you will read them the barcode on the tickets, they will let you know.

I tried that, they said without the purchasers info they couldn't do that. Only option is to show up to the event and give em a try. With all the p2p ticket sales going on you'd like to think they'd do something to help out with this kind of thing.

I got burned doing the same thing. Bought tickets from some shady kid meeting me on some random corner in midtown. He obviously wasn't going to the event, but I assumed he was probably working for a broker/scalper as a delivery guy.

That was the last time I deal with random shady characters on craigslist. From then on I make sure I know who it is that I'm dealing with... legit number (not prepaid), work email address, work phone number, etc.

If I had to fly an hour then drive another hour to go to a concert, I sure as hell wouldn't buy them off a guy on Craig's List.

Damn, sorry to hear that.. Maybe you could wait day or two and get in touch with the scammer and ask if he has anymore tickets for upcoming events...
Hopefully the bastard is greedy and will keep the same phone number for future scams?
Then rob his ass...

I don't understand, if you didn't feel good about the guy...why buy the tickets from him. I don't understand why people do things when their heart is telling them not to.

I would advise that you just take the loss, rather than going after this guy...from your description of him, I assume you have a lot more to lose than he does.
