Prepare thoroughly (Ni + LiAlH4 + Li)

1. Bake Ni
2. Reduce Ni
3. Hydrogenate Ni
4. Mix: Ni + LiAlH4 + Li
5. Bake and vac reactor, add Nickel, vac warm, add H2, Vac
6. Heat to above Mossbauer determined Ni Debye (say 135C), pressure regulated to approx 1bar abs.
7. Hold, pressure regulated to approx 1bar abs.
8. Heat slowly to as close to Ni Curie as comfortable (Say 340C), pressure regulated to approx 1bar abs.
9. Hold, pressure regulated to approx 1bar abs.
10. Slowly lower temp to above highest known Ni Debye (Say 220C), pressure regulated to approx 1bar abs.

I really do feel bad every time I see that you've bumped this thread!

I took a look at the link you posted, and it is totally underwhelming. The so-called cook book must be a joke. It seems pretty obvious (at least to me) that this is just another "pie in the sky" wanna-believe-Rossi website. These clues are hard to miss:

• The name:

  Martin Fleischmann Memorial Project

• The promise:

  With appropriate funding, we will show you the whole story, show you the tests being carried out and the results published live, we want to leave no shadow of doubt in peoples mind that they are right to get behind this revolution and clamour for it to deliver its benefits.

• The team:
  Mostly "entrepreneurs" with some mediocre engineering backgrounds and no degrees or experience in hard core physics.
  -
• The money:

  We need to raise the money to develop and distribute copies of this apparatus to ten research institutions around the world. We are targeting $500,000. Donate here. Or bid to own a piece of this, hopefully, historic project.

The claims made by this "new fire" team do nothing to advance the validation or acceptance of E-CAT "technology". I'm sorry to say that the same can be said for most every "breakthrough" claim that you've posted in this thread.

Now, I would love to be wrong about Rossi and his E-CAT. And it's possible (and therefore certain given enough time) that some off-the-wall discovery will shake the complacency of established scientific beliefs. That doesn't mean, however, that every crack-pot theory will be proven true if given enough time. With nothing to show after four years of waiting, you should have some growing doubts about the E-CAT ever living up to Rossi's promises.

They want you to think that. Also, I *did* look at it, which is how I noticed that it didn't seem to have any other reason to exist.

It could even be a pump'n'dump scheme where an investor wises up and did this to raise prices before dumping his investment. If he was deep enough in it then it makes sense with no connection to Rossi required. You are looking for validation and not being nearly skeptical enough. This meaningless "recipe" is something they gave you to regurgitate every time someone doubts it even though it doesn't do a things for you and me. At least wait for the supposedly-inevitable wave of independent confirmations to come pouring in if it really is so simple.

There is something that makes me wonder.
I do not know how thick that lead coating is, but for heat to be generated, you need a sufficient amount of gamma rays with enough energy. And for lead to absorb enough of them, there needs to be a thick lead coating. Gamma rays are dangerous for a reason, they pass through almost anything when not high enough density and thickness. This all means a pretty potent nuclear reaction. That should have been noticed long ago by other more credible scientists.
