My triple screen OSX desktop is just the default backgroud. Nothing very interesting to see.
There could potentially interesting things to see, but my attorney would castrate me if I didn't make you sign an NDA before showing it to you.

Could someone please explain to me wtf the whole cube thing is about? That seems like a waste of resources and doesn't seem very functional.

X, the predominant underlying window manager for linux, uses a system of virtual workspaces. It's quick useful as you can have virtually an infinite number of workspaces that you can switch between. It's basically like having different desktops with different things on them.
What beryl does is it animates the transition and even allows you to rotate a cube of four workplaces so that you can find what you are looking for. Honestly, the rotation is rather useless except for the odd chance where you forgot where you put a window, but the effects are nice. The default ones are easy on the eyes.
