ultimatezip - freeware archive utility. Built-in compression support for: Zip, Blak Hole, Cabinet, Jar, Lha , GZip, Tar, Tar-BZip2, and Tar-GZip archives. Built-in decompression support for: Ace, Arc, Arj , Rar, Zoo, Zip, Blak Hole, Cabinet, Jar , Lha, GZip, Tar.....

activekeys - shareware keyboard manager. I use it at work for a keyboard that doesnt have windows keys...it has more possibilities than Copernics Winkey (ctrl, alt, shift, plus other stuff), though it costs...

hotkeycontrolXP - freeware keyboard manager. works like the above and free. read the review here though.

inksaver shareware. InkSaver allows you to control the amount of ink used by your inkjet printer, making your ink cartridges last longer. Using patent pending software algorithms, InkSaver optimizes printer data so that your printer uses less ink
InkSaver is compatible with most HP, EPSON, and Canon color inkjet printers, and InkSaver works with any brand of ink cartridge or refill kit.

Microesoft Gallery Maker adware. pretty cool. havent finished anything with it yet, but I like it so far.

we-blocker - freeware. i use this to control web surfing for my little kids (ages 5 and 3). I preset what sites they can go to, and they cant go anywhere else. works great. not that they even know how to get other places than where I put them, on their own.... but just in case... lol... i can loosen the restrictions as they get older... the big question is how old will they be before I have to get more sophisticated... lol...

HOW ABOUT USEFUL PORTALS/HOMEPAGES?

I like my Yahoo.

I can use it to check my Pop3 email accounts remotely for free, and like using the calendar and addressbook features. THe calendar is a good organizer and you can set it up to emial you reminders at preset times.

I read the first 2 pages and the last page and didn't see this posted, but if it already is, then i'm sorry for the double post.
ACDSee - The best image view I've ever viewed porn with. It is shareware, however.

Passworld Agent - a shareware that's probably the most efficient and useful password manager

Startup Control Panel - yeah, msconfig is nice and all, but it isn't designed to delete programs from starting up...if you disable them, you'll get an annoying message saying Windows is using selective startup. Use this program to actually delete a program from starting up. It even adds a foolproof protection to let a program start up again if you accidentally delete it. No installation routines...just unzip and place it in your program files directory and run. Small and efficient. And of course, it's free. I love this program.

Kerio Personal Firewall - for those using Tiny Personal Firewall, Kerio bought their product and will be the one continuing to develop it. Kerio/Tiny is an awesome firewall.

I'm using all 3 on WinXP and they run perfectly.

Here's my list... Some others are listed. Some are pretty specialized. Some are commercial.

** Agent - NewsGroup reader. Auto-join messages. yEnc capable. Everything OE is not! NOT free.
** AutoMate - AutoMates tasks. Has MANY preprogrammed actions and triggers. Supports VBScript and can run DOS shells. Pretty good! Commercial.
** CamCommander - webcam program. Does auto-uploads, captions, pics taken at any interval. Stable. Free.
** CuteFtp - Been listed. Adware.
** dduptime - Simple, effective uptime program. Has a mIRC add-in, and can copy to the clipboard. Doesn't suffer from the 49.7 day Windows bug. Author's a great guy!!! (Thanx Miguel!!!) Plans on network support in next version (but don't tell him I said it). Free.
** HandyFile Find and Replace - No link. Search through multiple files, and replace. Recursive and non-recursive, handles special chracters, narrow search by extensions, name, date and/or properties, supposedly does the equilvalant of wildcards, but never gotten it to work. Stable. Only one I could find worth a damn that was Free.
** NameWiz - Rename multiple files. Recursive, replace/remove, insert/delete, increment/decrement, prefix/suffix, change caps, change extension. Has been able to handle nearly everything I've wanted to do. NOT free.
** MultiConv - Command-line graphics converter. Several formats (to and from). Can resize. Sweet! Free.
** MailWasher - Been listed. Adware.
** NetTime 2.0 - No link in "About...". Look it up your ownselves. Great program for time sync. Different servers (up to 6; SNTP, UDP, or TCP), update interval, retry interval. Can warn on large discrepancy. Run as app or service. Cost?
** ODIN - Duplicate picture finder. Searches by file attributes, color similarities, and... uh... other things: "average RGB", "Quadruple RGB", "Bitmap pattern". Variable tolerances. Side by side previews of matches. Takes a bit to get going, but well worth it for those really big porn collections ;-) NOT free.
** PopTray - Checks mail. Supports filters, many accounts, different languages, alarms, ignore (for stuff we don't NEED to see), preview, hotkeys, many many more. Semi-redundant with MailWasher, but bounce is on his to-do list. If you don't want bounce or SpamCop in MailWasher, use this program! Author's a great guy. Free.
** PowerDesk - Explorer replacement. Dual-window (optional), ZIP capable, FTP, previewer, drive button-bar (think Program Manager), other button-bars and quick-launch bar. Basically, everything Explorer can do, except different views like cookies, cache, and Recycle Bin"... Not a perfect program, but I think it's much better than Explorer. NOT free.
** ScreenGrab - Screen capture. Hotkey (and interval?). Can be hidden. Selection of file formats. Free.

That's it. Thank G(g)od(s) (or lack there-of) [or other spirtual/celestial/non-terrestial being(s) (or lack there-of)] for freeware!

EncSpot

Just started using this little app. It reports the codec used to compress an mp3. Handy for identifying those lousy Xing-encoded mp3s before you waste too much time finding/downloading them. Also reports other mp3 info including bitrate, length (min:sec), file size, VBR or CBR, ID3 tag info, encoding quality, and other stuff.

If you deal with mp3s and care about quality, this is a must utility.
