You have to pay for the Pro version. The Trial version is basically the Pro version for 30 days, and then goes down to the Regular edition, and to get the Pro version back you have to pay for it.

This is one of the best thread I've ever seen in my life, hehe. There is so much application listed here, I've been reading for an hour yet, and I didn't read half of it, wow. I could be trying those software during a whole week, full-time, and I would not have seen half of it omg! Anyway, here is what I haven't seen listed:

Anark Studio
Not really a prog, but is IMO an awesome plug-in. Baiscally is a 3D and nicer version of the known Macromedia Flash, but for some reason a lot less known! I'm sure a lot of you know it already because they work together with NVIDIA. Check the site out and look what it can do, awesome. Check this preview of NVIDIA quadro4 : here , WOW (of course you need to agree and install anark client, alike flash to view the content).

Copernic
Powerful search tool, I'm sure a lot of you know Copernic, it has been bought by microsoft a while ago. Allows you to search on multiple search engine at the same time, useful when you have a hard time searching the web.

Ghost mouse
You can record and playback music? Why not to the same with your mouse cursor, GhostMouse 2.0 records system-level mouse events that can be played back so the computer can execute and operate applications on its own. GhostMouse can be placed in the Windows startup group so preprogrammed tasks are carried out when Windows starts up. I use to use this program for some "macroing" in ultima online. Try this out, pretty nasty

Sorry if this was already posted but it would take me a whole day to read this thread.

Only just got here so didnt see this before. Been all through this great thread and haven't seen this posted, a must have utility for anyone who uses Internet Explorer, I'm always using it, copy links to clipboard from your favourites in different ways and open a link in a new window by right clicking on a favourite. CopyURL

And another vote for Outpost Firewall

Ad Blocking for Internet Explorer with this can block/unblock ads even after the page has loaded (not a proxy)

And another vote for OpenOffice

And IrfanView which I use a lot.

If you like a tabbed browser like opera with Internet Explorer functionality then Internet Surfer is the one you want. This is shareware.

Another vote for Trillian the best messenger client I have used.

Why not ? I read it all yesterday, couldn't miss out on this stuff, especially that IE spell checker, ideal for these forums

Hi all,

I didn't see Spybot - Search & Destroy but have only been able to check 4 or 5 pages of this great thread! It detects more than AdAware but I use both.

I remember in older versions of IE, you could increase the number of "open windows" so you could download more files simultaneously. IE 5 and later only allow 2 or 3 I believe!

Here is the registry values to be changed to allow more downloads. Helped me with this thread for sure

******
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=dword:00000010
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=dword:00000008
******

If you copy and paste between the Asterisks, and name it like "multi DL new keys 1.reg", you could then double click the file for easy editing! (Re-boot required eh!)

I've been using it for sometime now so there were no need to look for any other means to achieve this and I know there might be other tweaks or progs. you guys already use.

Please back up or export ?Internet Settings? from registry just in case this gives you any problems, I have experienced NONE, Windows ME any way!

Isn?t sharing just wonderful?

Does that utility also put bold tags around all of your posts automatically?

You can search the whole thread for the name of a program (etc.) by clicking the right-most icon, create printable thread (actually called "View thread in raw text format") and Control-F (in IE, anyway) = Find. It's a neat way of saving threads, too, if you care to because one day threads disappear, yes even from the archives. Paste into a text file, database, whatever. Incidently, if you use Metapad, freeware and mentioned 1/2 dozen times in this thread, URLs are launchable in your text files. It's my default program for .txt files. There's a compendium of suggestions from this thread. It was last updated on 10/03/02, but hopefully it will be updated again soon. That site has been hit over 100,000 times and the programs are listed in order and are linked to the download sites.

Thanks Muse for the info but still can't figure out the "right mouse icon" ?!?!? Going to make a stronger pot of coffee and read it again, lol.

The ?Master list? I found later and it is useful (used it for the TCClock) but since it is not up to date, your suggestion is the way to go.

Hmmmm ?. Tried right clicking everywhere including the first page and the main forum page ?. Where?s that coffee? ?. Must be me, lol.

What a A$$hole you are to post this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You make the If I could slap the SH!T outta list!

I was just going to say the same thing. It stopped opening IE windows after the 68th one. It used up 58MB of RAM for IE alone. If this crashes someone's machine while they were doing something important in the background, they'd be PISSED. WTF is wrong with you muthafu{ker ?!

CODE: ID_10_T.

That little sonofabitch, unfortunately I was at work and was running win98..lost a couple emails I had open, but that was it. It took up all my sys resources and shut the computer down...But that is ok, because if you will look at his profile, get his AIM name, and look under his subprofile, you will find his email. He will be getting lots of spam at that address from now on, and he can thank me for that. Anyone else who wants to follow, go right ahead. Jacka$$.

Cant an op edit those messages so no one will click that from now on?

Luckily I saw the warnings before clicking on that!

I see a lot of threads being locked and some people banned, why is this not being noticed?! Rather ?new? here, I don?t know the steps to make a complaint.

In a thread with suggestions and recommendations for ?useful? programs including spy ware removal, anti virus and firewall, having a direct link to something like that makes no sense what so ever to me!

I've been waiting for someone to discover an unofficial Quicktime codec for WMP so we could get full-screen playback and browser integration without the original installed, but it doesn't look like that's gonna happen so I'll put forth this piece of crap program that I've had to deal with:

Fullscreen Movie Player

You need WMP and QT installed. I strongly urge everyone to assign WMP6.4 to all video codecs and only use WMP 7, 8 & 9 for jukebox stuff and the like. WMP6.4 can open multiple movie simultaneously, conforms to compact Windows standards and simple shortcuts (ALT + Enter was only FINALLY brought back in WMP9), can repeat endlessly and doesn't have pauses between repeats of most formats. To get rid of Quicktime's nagging (Thnx TheWart), set your date forward (I set mine to 2010), launch QT and dismiss the "Pro" upgrade question, close it, change the date back and it shouldn't bother you for years!

Now, does anyone know of an alternative to Realplayer? I know WMP used to play older RM and MOV files, but legally they can't do so with the newer versions...

Why does this post no longer come up in search results for topics you have posted in? Also, it looks like we lost the sticky

I had to post in it for it to show back up, but it still has the "!"

Yep, and it gets pushed down by regular threads...
