I hope this is okay to post because it isn?t exactly a legitimate program but a collection of useful Internet Explorer browser extensions I put together in a single installation program. I put this collection together as a learning experience when I was trying to learn about INF scripts and the result has been something that I have found to be extremely useful. None of the hard work belongs to me so if this sort of thing isn?t welcomed here I?ll delete my link promptly. I call the collection WebX 6 and it should work for IE5 and above.

Define ? Define a word using Meriam-Webster online. Great for those of you that read a lot. Highlight a word and then right click to get to the Define command.

Frame2New ? This I got from Microsoft?s Web Accessories, I think. It will open up a frame in a new browser window just like Netscape.

Links List ? This will list all the links on a given webpage. I think I got this from Microsoft?s Web Developer accessory.

View Linked Images ? This will open up all directly linked images (A HREF=?) in a new browser window. Nice if you view a lot of game screen shots or series so you don?t have to click each link to get the picture. I got this from http://dheb.freeservers.com/freeware.html

Copy Document Location ? This will copy the URL of the current webpage into your clipboard for easy pasting. Great if you want to know the location of a framed webpage or one that the URL has been purposely obscured.

Quick Search ? I definitely got this from Microsoft?s Web Accessories. A lot of you are installing toolbars in IE say like Google or Yahoo so you can easily use that site?s search function, but if you are like me then you don?t really want the clutter and reduced screen estate. This tiny program which installs into the LINKS folder of your browser will let you define an acronym for any website so you search using that search engine from your address bar. This is how I added Google: Start up Quick Search, click on NEW, create a custom URL and use something easy to remember like ?gg? without the quotes for Google. The URL to add is ?http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%s&btnG=Google+Search? without the quotes. Save your settings and now whenever you want to search for something using Google, just type in ?gg whateveryouwant? without the quotes in the address bar and that?s it!

I just discovered (Thanks to JFall in this thread) a freeware utility that I'm going to run at Windows startup from now on: Autosizer download

I posted asking what I could do to force IE 6 to open new windows (Open in new window right click option when hitting links) maximized. Nothing I tried would force a maximized window on open. Autosizer can be set up for any number of your applications to configure just how you want new windows to open. I am opening it on Windows startup and it runs as a process, nothing in my tray to take up screen/task bar space. It's doing the job.

Hack-It -- Not what it sounds like. This is actually a really cool window managing program. Let's you set which windows are topmost, transparency for ANY window, process priority, etc.

Bunch of little apps -- There's a whole bunch of (sometimes) useful and fun little utilities here. For example, there's an app called Contig that lets you see the fragmentation for any specific file, and defragment it. Can't find a direct link to it though.

- excellent for sales pple.

Pls note that I am not trying to sell anything...just doing some research for my marketing class on consumer needs.

As such, would really appreciate your input on what kind of personal software you would purchase and what features you want it to have.
