You can slipstream (combine) your XP install Cd with
all the updates and even your personal info, timezone,
cd key, etc so that XP will install unattended. You
don't have to be present to insert CD's or input your
info. It allows you time to get that second, 8-shot
espresso of the day at Starbucks.
PC Utilities (UK Magazine),
www.pc-utilities.co.uk, available at
Boarders and Barnes & Noble has a 2 page "How To" on slipstreaming
in their Issue 43. It includes a CD of 523 essential programs.
I think the mag with CD runs you @ $12.

KeePass v0.92a
--------------------
300K/Win9x/2k/XP/FREE
http://keepass.sourceforge.net
Passwords are stored in an encrypted database using
AES/Rijndael ecrypted, SHA-256 (as password hash). For
organized freaks, the program supports groups for easy
password sorting. It comes with a password generator,
a search feature, and copying information to the
Windows clipboard. KeePass doesn't install anything
into the Windows environment or the registries. The
settings are stored in a file in the same directory of
the executable and lists can be exported to txt, html,
xml, or csv files as well as printed. Nice and simple
utility that can even be translated to other
languages.

Ultimate Boot CD v2.21
-----------------------------
45.8M/Win9x/2k/XP/FREE
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4019.html
Free yourself from the slow loading speed of the
floppy drive. Even if you do have a floppy drive, it
is still much much faster to run your diagnostic tools
from the CD-ROM drive rather than wait for the tool to
load from the floppy drive. Consolidate as many
diagnostic tools as possible into one bootable CD.
Wouldn't you like to avoid digging into the dusty box
to look for the right floppy disk, but simply run them
all from a single CD? Then the Ultimate Boot CD is for
you!

Cool Development Tool for Linux
----------------------------------------
GAMBAS.
http://gambas.sourceforge.net/
Amazing program. The GAMBAS GUI itself is written in
Gambas (controls and compiler code in C). I could
build the source in Fedora-1, with no problem. Make
sure you install PostgreSQL before that, so that you
can try database applications also. Browse through the
GAMBAS Gui project itself to see the power of GAMBAS
script. There is one more real world application -
"Gambas Database Manager". Simply amazing!! (It is
currently at version 0.84 - and is already very
usable).

Boot Linux Fron A USB Flash Dirve
------------------------------------------
Looking to run a bare bones system (no floppy/HD/CD)
with Linux booting from a USB Pen Drive of approx
64MB?
The distro that your are looking for is called "damn
small linux" do a google search for it and you will
find it.
Something like this will do the trick:

Re-implementing what I designed in 1979 is not
interesting to me personally." -Bill Joy on Linux

This one sticks out in my mind.
----------------------------------------------------
If you have Linux installed look in
the /usr/local/doc dir, the HOWTO you are looking for
is called "diskless" I beleive, it may be updated to
explain a USB flash drive.
