Sarah Goldfarb's decline in Requiem For a Dream
The scene in "Empire of the Sun" where Christian Bale's character doesn't even recognize his own parents after losing his privileged life and surviving in a POW camp.
Not nearly. That was cliched and mostly pointless.Yes. This.
I thought the scenes between him and the young kamikaze were more powerful.

Yes very moving but to know that this really happened makes it even more powerful. The part in Schindlers List when they are burning all the bodies ( its truly an atrocity what happened to those people) and the scene focuses in on the little girl in Red ( in color keep in mind whole movie black and white) as she is seen being carted off to be disposed of.
They were completely different, and still felt a connection through all the barriers between them.
That's what was so cliche and seemingly-forced about it.
Ugh. He was blinded by his love of flying and willing to do horrible things to fly. Different kind of naivete and I don't think it was particularly relevant to the story anyway. We, the viewer, didn't even really know the kid so it had much less impact than him not recognizing his own parents after what he went through.No. It just makes you realize that there were naive children affected on both sides.
The scene from Schindler's list when they making the Jews take all the dead bodies and burn them, and you see the little girls red jacket in color with everything else in black and white.
Very sickening what happened to those people.

For some reason the end of Toy Story 3 made me sad.
The end of The Big Lebowski whenThe Dude doesn't get his rug back!
so sad, and so infuriating at the same time.
His rug wasn't taken from him. It was pissed on.
