does anyone see a shadow for a plane which does not exist?

If you scroll to the right you will see there are 3 planes and 3 shadows. The angle between the sun, plane, and satellite, makes these shadows look a long distance from the planes casting them.

Yes I DO see what you mean but it's hard to tell if that's a shadow of a plane or not. The more I look at it the more I think you are right.

At any right if it is there's another very simple explanation. These shots are stitched together from hundreds of individual pictures taken at slightly different times. One shot had the shadow of a plane in it but not the plane itself. When the camera took the next shot of where the plane that cast the shadow was the plane had moved on by then.

Indeed looks like the perfect place for someone looking to get away from the world and other people as much as possible. I can relate to such a feeling very well. Also looks like the perfect place to be buried in a pyroclastic flow

the test site is just an hour north of las vegas. do they do tours?

Yup once a month. You're not allowed to take anything home from the tour and no cameras or cell phones allowed.

There was a non-nuclear (but really large explosion) test planned in the area but they had to cancel it due to fears that radioactive material from previous tests would be kicked up. Monitoring wells in the area report very high radioactivity there.

Some very interesting Cities from the top 50 list of highest population density as listed by Wikipedia. I urge everyone to take a look at these, some almost look like a work of art/sculpture from space. Now to get a good feeling for this you HAVE to view these maps in a large window, preferable full screen F11. Make sure the google maps side bar is closed. Then zoom in and out of various parts of these cities! Oh and make sure all labels of any type are turned off, these links should do that automatically.

If you look at the angle of the shadows of the airport buildings, it would suggest the shadow of the airplane should lie to the NNE (~1 o'clock) of it, not to the WSW (~8 o'clock) as you suggest.

It's a mosaic artifact from when the photos were stitched together.

Gives you an idea of what forestry zoning/protected areas will do. My guess is to prevent massive erosion and run off, that's a very steep volcanic cone. At least I'm guessing that's the reason. This is in New Zealand

The circular structure you see here is nick named Cactus Dome and it's where all the radioactive contaminated soil and debris from the numerous tests on the islands was buried. After this the US claimed the islands were safe to return to in 1980 but this has been disputed and legal settlements have been reached:
