That's the crater left by Ivy Mile:

The circular structure you see here is nick named Cactus Dome and it's where all the radioactive contaminated soil and debris from the numerous tests on the islands was buried. After this the US claimed the islands were safe to return to in 1980 but this has been disputed and legal settlements have been reached:

The crater just to the north is from another nuclear test.
Those are tree farms. Zoom in and look at the shape.
Coincedence that the swath image of the actual Ivy Mike test location (and the former location of the island) is only in fairly poor resolution?
St. Paul Island currently has one school (K-12, 100 students), one post office, one bar, one small store, and one church

I think I'll visit this place once in my lifetime. Or at least before they disappear by rising sea level.

I will reward you with 10k Internets if you can find a neighborhood with cul de sacs in China:
Many of the wealthy developments outside Shanghai have cul de sac like layouts

Lots and lots of wealth in China now.
I had a link to a specific devlopment with cul de sacs but lost it.
