Post Pee Chill?

So, awhile back, this somehow got brought into conversation with a few friends of mine. Do you ever get a chill while you are urinating? It's not a one time thing, and its not a consistent thing. It just seems to happen randomly. We came up with a few facts linked to this phenomenon and I believe the population of ATOT might be able to add to the facts as well as possibly put our minds together to come up with the cause of this interesting side effect of male urination.

Facts:
- It only happens to guys
- It doesn't happen for every piss
- It seems to happen after long urinations.

- Does it happen while only standing?
- Does it happen to everyone?

Theories?

The most popular and immediate theory was that it is just your body's reaction to a lot of warmth leaving your core. This sounded reasonable, but had a few arguments. Do you get chills after puking? If you were to chop off your arm (lose all that heat) do you get chills?

Maybe my googlefoo is low, and someone can just post an article, but from what I can tell there is no study on this.

Anyone understand what I'm talking about or am I just koo koo for pee chills.

I usually get them in the morining. In college they were called the early morining piss quivers.

This brings up another possible fact that we discussed. Does the temperature of the air in which you are pissing make a difference? Does bringing your dick out into a desert decrease the chances of the quiver as opposed to bring it out while peeing in the snow?

and me and my buddies actually have a name for it too: pee shivers.
however, it is a second phenomenon that goes hand-in-hand with what you are describing, while at the same time being the same thing.
see, thing is, this phenomenon I am describing is the shiver one feels when you have not yet pissed, yet really have to. It's an experience that is also noticeable, maybe we have also grown to exaggerate it, but it's a body quiver that is sent throughout the whole body and someone who is in the loop as to what that shiver is can actually witness the person's body quiver and typically will point it out.

A slightly strange thread, I think it's funny that the best explanation so far comes from a female...

I always thought it was the cold coming from the ghosts entering the room to watch me pee.

Doesn't always happen at the end. Sometimes the mid-stream ones make things a bit messy.

I think we've had this conversatino before and some other ideas was the fact that we were losing so much heat from the piss. Another one was the mini-orgasm.

I don't quite remember, but it could have happened before while sitting down (while crapping so don't start calling me a female).

I know the issue of which you speak... but I only remember having it pre-twenties.

It happens to some girls, but I think its a smaller amount.

My last girlfriend had this happen to her. It happens to me ~80% of the time?

its a false orgasm... but your body interprets it the same way...

I have felt this also. After holding my piss for a bit, the release is very pleasant and strange.
and tingly good.

Is a chill really experienced or just a shiver? Shiver is normally what...involuntary stimulation against cold (akin to a yawn against low oxygen)? Does it happen when there is not particularly a drop or potential drop in temperature -example: environment remains warm and constant versus leaving warm bed sans clothes and schlepping to bathroom?

I reckon core temperature should not drop, per se, but certainly loss of so much warm fluid could reduce short-term stability. However, the flow of warm fluid would actually raise temperatures in external wobbly bits (to use the medical terminology).

So, I'm tending to favour not actual chill but just stimulation of plumbing, supported by the experience of pleasurable sensations.

I would guess this feeling has something to do with the pressure that is released off of the prostate. Not sure though...

Ah, the good old piss shiver. I don't get high any more but I sure enjoy a good piss now and again.

I found this on the Register:

Low room temperature as covered parts of the body are exposed could be an obvious cause. More seriously, the shivering is an example of the human body's autonomic nervous system (ANS) at work.

We are not conscious of the ANS. It runs on automatic, hence its name, "autonomic", which literally means "self controlling, working independently". The urination reflex is relayed through the ANS. The reflex is directly related in strength to the amount of stretch of the bladder. Thus, the degree of shivering is generally related to how full the bladder is at the time of urination.

The ANS has two divisions. One is the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) and the other is the sympathetic nervous system (SNS).

The SNS tends to keep the bladder relaxed and the urethral sphincter contracted. This is why one does not have an "accident" while one is concentrating on something else. It is true to say that the more "desperate" one becomes in response to a bulging bladder, the more the SNS acts to keep you dry.

The SNS response includes the release by the brain of chemicals doadrenal medulla catacholamines epinephrine, norepinephrine, and dopamine to bring about the necessary body reactions. When the opportunity arises to allow the parasympathetic side of the ANS to take over, the change in catacholamine production probably causes of the shivering.

Laboratory experiments which have not been undertaken would prove this beyond doubt.

In any case, at the moment of urination, there is a slight blood pressure rise and a momentary flushing or euphoria shortly after relaxing the urethral sphincter. Some find this feeling pleasurable. At such moments, some people say "ah". This same response in its most extreme forms causes fainting. All of this is the ANS doing its job.

No matter how much you shake and dance, the last few drops will be in your pants.
