Well, I finally got around to taking pictures of my updated setup.

One
Two

Main components now (NEW) means added since last pics:

Philips 47in 1080p TV
Onkyo TX-SR705 Receiver (NEW)
2x Athena LS-100B Fronts (NEW)
Athena LS-C100B Center (NEW), behind the TV at the moment because its huge. Im not happy about this so I need to fix it.
4x Athena LS-50B Rears Ceiling Mounted (NEW), yes I know ceiling mounted isnt the best option, but they sound quite good as they are pointed perfectly to the couches
BIC Acoustech H-100 Subwoofer (NEW)
Xbox 360
Wii
Harmony 676
AMD FX-60 Based HTPC with Radeon 2600XT
Toshiba Upconverting DVD Player
Comcast HD-DVR

To Do List:
I want to buy a 61 or 67in Samsung LED DLP or perhaps a 57-60 inch LCD/Plasma and put it down in front of the window on the right instead of the LCD on the fireplace. Then the 47in LCD can go in my bedroom . This would allow me to have my center in front of the TV and also take care of the odd viewing angles I currently am dealing with due to the fireplace.

I'm excited to post pictures of the new TV I bought 2 weeks ago!!

Here is my setup:
Samsung LN-T4061F 40" 1080p LCD
Onkyo HT-S580S 5.1 Home Theatre-in-a-Box System
Sony DVP-NC875V 5-Disc Progressive Scan DVD Player
Xbox360 connected through component cable to the tv and fiber to the receiver

Home Theatre Setup Pic 1
Home Theatre Setup Pic 2

The surround sound is a few years old but still very good for what I paid for it. I also live in an apartment complex so going much bigger or the sound may not be the best idea. I do want to get a powered sub here in the near future. I also should say that this TV upconverts the progressive scan dvd player automatically to 1080. I even connected a friend's upconverting dvd player to see if there was a difference and I couldn't tell at all. The component1 input accepts 1080p so I didn't have to run out and buy a new xbox360. The pc also looks stunning with games at 1080p. I need a little bit better graphics card to get some higher frame rates but no so bad at all.

Here is a couple pics of my computer that is in my sig too!

NEXT ON THE BUY LIST: PS3 or BLU-RAY PLAYER

Why did you mount your speakers up so high?

In order to flush mount them they were going to be angled downwards. So I put them higher so the speakers aim more towards the couch than the floor.

Ack it just looks too busy to either side of the display. Why not put the racks of DVDs elsewhere in the room? I know my eyes would definitely be wandering if I was watching with that setup.

I don't have a choice where to put all the DVDs. It is a small pre-furnished apartment with not a whole lot of room. There are 2 single couch chairs, a full size couch, a coffee table, and an end table. The room isn't that big to begin with. You really don't notice the DVDs at all. Especially since the tv is beautiful.

That is how it is currently setup. I think I am going to be removing the table on the right side of the picture and getting this mount. I also need to do a bit of reorganizing and such.

You should put some wings on the wire about a foot below the linksys router. It would look like a dragonfly!

Fixed

-The lighting is poor.

We should have a screenshot thread here, but then some prude with a Kuro will come in and beat us

Err, what are you referring to exactly? The picture was taken with the lights on (soft yellow fluorescents). When I watch movies, I use a backlight behind the TV. I just couldn't get a shot of the actual home theater with just the backlight on, so the rest of the lights are also on.

You shouldn't need a backlight for a RPROJ TV.

It's not a bad idea for any tv type. Doing it creates the illusion of depth, which results in less eyestrain.

I have been able to reach 102dB before my ears said no more!

Off to a movie now, I will add pics soon...

I am looking to get the Monitor Mini's or Titan's, and was wondering how you like the Mini's? I am looking mainly at them or Focal Chorus 705's and the Paradigm's have a little more "presence" then the Focal's. I made the choice in car audio to not go with Focal's, and I regret that decision. So with home audio I don't want the same thing to happen.

So how do you like the Paradigm's? The thought also crossed my mind to get the 7's instead (I am doing a 2.1 now and later am going to a 5.1 so would either buy 3 new fronts if I went Mini's or Titan's or a center and 2 rears if I went the tower 7's)

Paradigms are AWESOME. I have had a lot of equipment and broke most of it, but never had a problem with the Paradigm.

I would recommend the 7, they have a great high and mid range, but don't go very deep. Get a sub to go with it and you will be in great shape. Mine a several years old (7 years and counting), so the new may be different.

I am currently specifying my new system, and plan on going with the Signature Series. If you have the cash, use them.

On a side note, I also updated to an Anthem PVA2 for the 7's, talk about a Kick A** AMP! Also highly recommended!

Thanks!

The Mini's Also perform great, I selected them because they were a match to the 7's and the rest of the system.

I see no reason to change from Paradigm, best performance at that price and several price levels above them.

Thanks!

Had some updated:

Added:

Anthem PVA2 on Front Channels
Toshiba HD-A2 (yea, Blu-ray is the future, but at $100 with 5 free HDDVD, I could not pass!)
DVD-1920 replaced with DVD-2930
DVD-2930CI Broke, replaced with DVD-2910CI
DVD-2910CI has issues, will replace with DVD-2500BDCI when it gets in

Now I need to figure out how to convert HDMI only from 2500BDCI to Coax Audio and HDMI Video...
Built New stand from Hard Maple and Slate Tile

Probably the last upgrades for a while...baby one on the way!

Built the rack this winter, took about 6 months to complete the theater, all custom done personally except the carpet. Wife made the curtains. Best room in the house!

I am trying to see how many posts I can do by myself in a row, sorry, been drinkin' because of Vista (see the OS forum for info on that), or EM Theory, not sure which.

Twinpeaksr, I like the blue paint and the table (will you make me one?). However, I would personally place it to the side due to distracting component lights. It looks like there is an ideal recess to the wall such that the screen could be brought forward and most everything concealed behind and/or flush with space to walk behind for connections and such. Ever think of that?

I am sure one can be made, but shipping would be pricey (it is quite heavy!)

Yes, the lights are there, and yes the screen could be pulled forward, but the recess is only about 12", and based on where I needed to put the door, I don't have the additional 6" that I would need to enclose it. I do have the ability to put the components on the other side of the wall if I need to though (that is where my computers are), tried it but found it more of a hassle then the LED. The LED light is not too much of an issues as the 6ft LoveSac blocks the view when reclined in the couch!

Thanks for the thoughts!
