Sure do, it means "a small or unimportant amount of money". Of course, the second definition is the literal definition of the phrase.

and you would consider holding out 1 more year for a car an unimportant event?

Sure, especially if there wasn't any inherent need to buy a brand new vehicle. Some people buy new cars every 5 years. Make that every 6 years, and the extra money...

Heck, I'd buy a 4k$ used car and spent the balance 16k$ on my stereo without blinking an eye and I'd make less than 70k$. of course if i did that, I'd upload new pictures

ah, youth, wasted on the young.

I wish I can still go out and just drop 7k on speakers...

Nothing too spectacular but its my first HDTV setup and it gets the job done.

Text, Text

Sharp 42" LCD 1080p
Xbox 360

HTPC:
-Logitech Dinovo Mini
-Intel DG45ID
-Lite-On BD drive
-nMedia case
-E8400
-4gb Crucial Ballistix
-Vista Ultimate x64
-500gb HD for when I do start doing DVR.

Going to add an HDHomeRun soon.

Most of my media is streamed up to the HTPC form my server in the basement;

Pentium D 2.8ghz dual core
80gb HD for OS
(2) 750GB hard drives for media, probably going to have to add another one soon, they are getting full!

Y'know, most of us don't actually belong to every forum on the internet. Perhaps you could upload the photos to imageshack?

Also, you need a sub. A Dayton RS390 would work well; two RS390s would work better. Just build the requisite MDF box (it's not difficult), plug it into a pro power amplifier - say, a Tapco J1800, though just about any new or used pro amp will do - and enjoy.

Forgot to add the subs...whoops

I finally got around to taking photos of my setup. I don't have the space for a proper 5.1 setup, so I decided to focus on my front speakers for now with the intent of adding additional speakers at a later date.

The Setup
Squeezebox Duet

Samsung LN46A650 LCD
Denon AVR-1909 Receiver
Ascend Acoustics Sierra-1 Speakers (L/R/C)
SqueezeBox Duet
PS3

It can't be seen in the photos, but I also have a fileserver sitting next to my entertainment center which runs TVersity, SqueezeCenter, etc.

Overall, I am very pleased with the setup. It is perfect for music, but I still need to get a decent sub for movies.

The LCR have been replaced with TSC LCR 3-P and the LR have been relegated to surrounds.

It's not bad for my first HT.

move the bookshelf speakers foward a bit, like have the grill part stick out of the shelf. They'll sound a lot better.

I would just get them out of there and put them on stands. But you may not be able to do that.

I do plan on taking the L&R out and putting them on shelves....gotta get the wife to agree first.

In the mean time move them forward.

posted earlier in this the thread but updated and rearranged it all. need to get some pictures on the wall so it doesn't look compltely bare but not sure what yet was going to do some movie posters, but decided that wasn't what I wanted, then was going to get some canvas art prints then found what I wanted would cost more than the furniture in the room, so back to thinking what I want.

don't really like where the surrounds ended up but it will have to do for now till I figure out if I'm going to by new wall mountable ones or just stick with what I got

I'm too lazy to search for your original post ;p

Mind listing your equipment again?

Also, you should point the surround speakers towards your ears and recalibrate their levels.

Sub: JBL Sub150 from a JBL SCS160SI HTIB.

Receiver: Yamaha HTR-5560

Display 50" Panny 720P Plasma

Sources: ATT Uverse for TV and a HTPC for everything else

Mate, same here! BUT in my own setup I 'have' to have it there as I can't spend £5k taking out the fireplace and doing the entire central heating as I have a boiler in the chimey behind the gas fire that I never use...savage

The tv is about 2ft too high imo for me...

If I get a new place I will be sure to check that BS first!
