Replaced my Velodyne VRP-1200 with the Rythmik FV12

Finally bothered to take a nicer picture of my setup.

Still a couple of things to do (Like the trim in the first one)

Move the speakers further away from the walls?

Some awesome setups in here! But I'm always amazed by how few people understand how speakers are to be positioned. So many crippling their soundstage by such poor positioning, especially of the center and surrounds..

Howard's 2.1 setup (pictured below) is just perfect though .. I'd bet my life savings that especially for music, this setup sounds far far superior to just about every single 5.1 setup in this thread who are really just polluting their air with 3 unnecessary speakers, rather than allowing two phenomenal speakers up front to shine.

goobernoodles: perhaps you can mount the TV higher and then get the center up a little bit when you upgrade your stand? How do you like the HSU?
I've actually since gotten a 60" TV, and still have that craptastic stand. The TV is too wide since the sides of the stand extend vertically past the top platform, so our 60" TV is sitting on 2x4's - lol.

I think I may pick up some Energy RC-10's for the office... hmmm...

Got a mini tv stand to put on top of my tv stand so my tv isn't sitting on top of my center any more. It was only $34 - a lot cheaper than replacing my current stand

You should remove the metal bridges if you are going to bi-wire or bi-amp, or it may result in an electrical mishap.

Picked up some nice compact Dynaudio Contour SRs for a bedroom stereo setup...very nice and compact speakers (you can see how they dont even cover the entire stand plate)

The wire is long enough to have them sit on the floor but there isn't much more space on the stage (in retrospect the stage wasn't quite deep enough. One of the many things on my 'when I do it again' list. AT screen is even higher up there....)

I am always open to critiques on placement (just dont tell me to move my center up ) and I will admit that there were more than a couple positioning/layout issues I was not able to overcome on the first go round

Fry's had a pretty good sale on the Sony 55EX500 for $900 last week (reg price was $1700), so I sold my 3yr old 46V2500 (was $1400 IRC) that was hanging on the wall in my master bedroom to a friend for $600...

That 9" makes a huge difference....(that's what she said!!!! LOL)

---pics snipped---

Man you gotta find a way to get your front mains and center channel more in line. Youve got waaaay too much seperation and your center is far too low with respect to your TV. I see youre limited by what looks like an alarm pad on the left, but find a way to get those mains down and the center up.

How do you like your Revel Ultima2 Gems? I have been eyeing them for a long time for a bedroom setup!

Revel's design philosophy is all about linear off-axis response and the Gem2s are no exception. You can place them virtually anywhere and they will sound almost the same--no fighting for a "sweet spot."

The best speakers I've ever heard down to 70Hz--which is the only weakness, they have to be paired with a sub because the -3db point is so high. The midrange and tweeter sound like a single drive unit.

I have the Studio2s as well as the Gem2s sound more cleaner (4" drivers vs 5.5", smaller driver will win out due to a higher resonance peak frequency so any ringing can be eliminated by the crossover). If it weren't for the bass response I would say the Gem2s are superior to the Studio2s.

But it does work well for a bedroom setup, especially if you don't want deep bass in the middle of the night.

Got my new Paradigm Studio 60s and CC-590 yesterday with a HSU vtf3.4, finally finished with the temporary setup (lol). New setup will be in a few months when I finish building a new cabinet to house this freaking monster of a center and probably get a tv while Im at it. Ill probably use those old DTs as surrounds or something, may use the old DT dipolar things but no reason I cant use the towers as surrounds
