Pipe organ bass pedal notes aren't really that stressful - they're more like a sinus test which really tests the amplifier's power supply and excursion of the low frequency drivers. In consumer audio, both seem to be very stressed in that case.

Many full range speaker systems will reveal gross intermodulation distortion (from the speaker itself) with organ music as pedal notes are played full volume along with reeds and trumpets. IMD can be heard (not from the speaker) but acoustically in the room itself if the woofer array has enormous output but that is far less common.

Transients are hard to control as larger woofers are harder to stop moving but a good amp can handle this well.

The 18Hz element in "Fried Mission" is a fluke from a super condenser mic picking up a heavy foot on the studio floor!

You want heavy bass? Try this for size. Be warned as it has a LOT of information around 12Hz and will eat into excursion capacity fast. (a properly designed bass driver should never bottom but that's another matter. )

Many (home) systems fall on their face in the 60-90Hz region. This is especially true with satellite/sub systems that are so popular today. The bass modules are "one note wonders" and the critical midbass has such a hole it's a wonder the solar system hasn't been destroyed by its presence.

I have this in my bedroom (that's why it's stuck in the corner). Sharp 32" LCD, onkyo 604 receiver, 7.1 setup, and 6 disc upconverting dvd player. The TV is a little small for my liking, ideally I would have a 42" television.

Welcome to Anandtech! With TVs falling in prices, you could have that 42" TV in no time for not too much money!

I just jumped on a 37" 1080P deal a few days ago from COSTCO

Sometimes if you search here you can find some pretty neat deals!

It took me approximately 6 months to finish. I contracted out the mudding and taping of the drywall (I hung it myself), the carpeting and the bathroom plumbing (I didn't want to learn to use a jack hammer). The room is approximately 24'L x 17'W.

Very nice. I know what you mean about the personal satisfaction. I didn't construct the room myself, but I started with an unfinished room and directed the design and put together the equipment. I think I have an amazing theater room for what I paid. And I use it ALL the time.

The one thing I always suggest for people is to consider a drop ceiling if they can. You never know what you might want to run later, and I had a leak two weeks ago and ended up replacing only three tiles. No telling how expensive it would have been if I had plaster.

Well it is probably no surprise to you that I have a fondness for low frequencies and loud noises. If you have heard our speakers, I would like to think maybe its not a surprise that I am keenly interested in reproducing the "stereo image" and realism in reproduction too.

I have been developing a microphone invention for a while now and on the 4th of July, I was inspired to set it up in the back yard at my house to record the Town's fireworks which are set off about ½ mile away.
I put the last few minutes of it on a CD and have since played it (to be honest, over and over).
It was so much fun, I thought others might want to play this too.

A word of warning.

This recording has a HUGE dynamic range of about 70dB and a peak to average ratio of 40 dB. On the peaks, it is easy to clip things and the spectrum is such that the level at 10Hz is about equal with that at 50Hz (a broad mound around 25 - 30Hz).
In other words, this recording can gobble up all the headroom you have and the source is one of the most difficult things to reproduce there is from many aspects.
Preserving time and bandwidth critical so also try it on good headphones if your not impressed with it through your speakers.

Anyway, take the file and burn it on to a CD (make a couple copies one after the other) and have fun and approach maximum level carefully.

I'm pretty happy with my setup. The 37" screen is quite a joy to sit in front of and work on excel spreadsheets, and gaming/movies of course! There is one dead (off) green subpixel in the center 1" from the bottom, but otherwise, the screen is nice!

Lol, that is really close... but then I am only like double your distance and I am shooting 92" so who am I to ccomment?
