I've spent a few years slowly upgrading my components. Less than 4 years ago I was only using a 1988 mitsubishi crappy tv with internal speakers! Now (mostly thanks to SD, fatwallet, and ATHD)....

Samsung 42" DLP
Harmon Kardon AVR-420
Athena c.5 and s.5 (thinking about getting a 6th speaker...worth it?)
Crappy sony subwoofer (anyone know any good subs under 100?)
philips upconverting dvd recorder
xbox 360
Samsung SIR-TS360 (probably will be upgraded to directv hd dvr soon)

Does anyone know of any armoires that fit 42" tvs? All the ones I've seen are about 2 or 3 inches not wide enough! I need furniture! THanks

Tried it. Looks like I need a sub.

I have the 10" sub that came free ($199. value) when I purchased my Polk RTI 12's. I forget what it is but I use it in my computer room to compliment my Infinity Primus 140 bookshelf speakers. I'll put the Sub on my christmas list along with my Onkyo 805

Guaranteed to rock you

This is a very dangerous sound file, read the Foreword on the website before playing the 25MB WAV file.

I had already downloaded it from your previous link, burned it to cd and played it. It's not that great of a file 'till the end. I can't wait to play it on my sys when I get the 12" sub

This is probably a noob question but what is the ariel you are referring to?</end quote></div>
I think aerial antenna is what he meant.

Indeed it is, pavement, sidewalk. Petrol, gas. Colour, color.

antenna, ariel.

I'm sure its called British for a reason?

Another bass test track

Be careful with that one - it has a lot of information to ~10Hz and WILL F up drivers - especially in systems with really out of whack gain structure. (most home systems hehe)

On a capable system it's a lot of fun. On lesser systems you may want to have that fire extinguisher handy.

Most sub 16hz bass is synthetic. Not many musical instruments can produce down to 8hz. There are two in operation, but the upper harmonics dominate so much that you don't really get audible 8hz.

Rubycon, do you have a .wav of that? I have a crappy old 64kbps mp2 and it has no bass no treble lol.

I don't have a problem with synthetic sub, it's the choice of electronica over something more traditional that irks me. I would like to have the wave file too

Yes - the original file is 24 bit at 96kHz and it is HUGE! The WMA is much better than a 320kbps MP3, however.

As far as super low bass - yes there is not much point in going much lower than 35Hz or so (for live music). But for special effects, theater, etc. the quest for 20Hz and lower is sought after.

Well, I have an original, but it only goes down to 16hz for brief moments ;p Plus the wav would be huge.

File format will not have an affect on low frequency extension. Even poorly encoded MP3's will have sub bass. The really crappy quality of youtube videos have it - I have been blasted quite a few times and really have to be careful with youtube links.

>>Eeew, electronica Toccata and Fugue...<<

Yeah I know - it's for the bass kiddies with the cars.

This is much more musical.
