 30k$ is pocket change to some of the folks in OT that make an average annual salary of 150k$

it is most definitely not pocket change, even for someone who makes 150k

Sure it is, they just have not not have kids and hold out 1 more year on the new car

Tax's man

Lots of sweet setups here! I'll have to tidy my setup, build the hifi rack, tidy the cables and fully calibrate the speakers and raise the rears...this is a savagely long process with work and training...

The tv is about 2ft too high imo for me...

If I get a new place I will be sure to check that BS first!

Its not ideal, but it was really the only place to put it that made sense. my couch really lounges back and since the tv is tilted down, its actually very comfortable to watch.

for Tiamat:
tv: philips 52PFL7403D/F7
receiver: onkyo sr806
cable box: some scientific atlantic (?) time warner crap
ps3
battery backup: belkin AP30800fc10-BLK (i can shamefully admit i chose this one based on cosmetics)
htpc: some 2 year old POS that isnt even plugged in right now
speakers: polk R series
and then got all the cables/tv mount/keystone jacks from monoprice

I am doing my new home theater a bit backwards. I have almost all the hardware, but the basement is not even close to being finished. I worked for Circuit City (found other employment thank God) and got to acquire a fair bit of nice stuff for cheap

This is more of a proof of concept/planning setup - making sure everything works and planning out the final layout. Thats why its so messy/tools everywhere

Epson Home Cinema 1080P ($250)
Onkyo TXSR806 ($400)
Sony HDG HDD250 PVR w/ QAM ($10)
Monster HDP-2500 Power Conditioner ($1)
Speakers and sub will need to be replaced (4 BA CR67Bs and an Infinity 8") but they were the only extra speakers I had lying around at the moment.
The HTPC I borrowed from the 56" Samsung A650 upstairs. I will need to get another blu-ray player soon so I don't have to keep moving it

Here's mine since I moved last august.

I moved in with my gf, and have since redone this 3 times. This is the most current version, and will most likely to stay this way for a while. The next thing is going to be new speakers, but that won't change the equipment.

So here is the new HT

From top to bottom:

Pioneer Kuro 5080 (I was watching DS9 if you're wondering what that was )
Cable box
Wii
Sony BDP S350 Blu-Ray player
Marantz SR5002
Pure AV power conditioner

To the left is my HTPC/server (currently has 2.5 TB's of space, using the AMD 780G)

Remote is the Logitech Harmony One

Speakers are Logitech Z-5300

The cord on the floor to the table is the AC for my tablet PC

I have been very happy with my 602's I would really like to get a pair of 603 S3 or 604 S3 and run my 602's as rears. I have had them since the S3 first came out so they are getting up there in age and still sound just as good as the first day I got them.

I think I paid around $700 for all 3 speakers.

Am I imagining that, or is that a 16:9 movie with black bars on all sides of your 16:9 TV?

I think that was actually a Commercial.

It's replacing a 56" JVC 1080i CRT set - I was worried I'd be disapointed w/ the lower res, but I gotta say - this tv is gorgeous =) Have not calibrated it yet or really had time to mess around w/ it.

Sammy - w/ a big flash reflection =)

The HTIB I'm currently using (and, for now, perfectly happy with) is This one

Updating w/ new pics-
I *thought* I was perfectly happy w/ my HTIB, but I was wrong =)
New speakers =
Denon 1909
SVS speakers- SCS's in front, SBS surrounds
SVS PC12-NSD sub

Of course right after I got all this set up, my TV decides to start crapping out- I did get an extended warranty, but it's still a PITA.

Front

Back

I'm sure there's probably a better location for the sub, but this will have to do for now- I want to keep it away from the left wall (neighbor).

Thanks- it is a huge step up from the HTIB that I was using before. Also, I should mention that SVS is amazing to deal with- top notch customer service before *and* after the sale.

Consolidating my other posts into this one ... now with pix

Behringer EP1500 (for the Infinite BAffle)

Panasonic BD30

Here are some pix of the setup, I've updated the album with some Pix of the Infinite Baffle Sub.

http://picasaweb.google.com/pa...r9W5dA&feat=directlink

The 3808 is calibrated using the MultEQ Pro 3.0 Installer kit at 15 locations across the couch. The Sub runs flat to about 10hz before rolling off.

The Projector I calibrated using HCFR and an EyeOne Colorimeter. The colors were horribly oversaturated out of the box. It's now calibrated to d65K and dead nuts on. The 810 has a pretty decent Color Management System that allows adjustment of the Primaries and Secondaries Hue and Saturation .. it can't do luminance, but if you tweak all of the controls you can indirectly control luminance. I spent about 12hrs in total getting this right. Everything is as close as it's going to get and the picture is superb, at least IMHO.

Here is a pic of the resulting color gamut

http://picasaweb.google.com/lh...r9W5dA&feat=directlink

Cyan is off a little bit, but I can't bring it in any closer without effecting the primaries. I felt that it was more important to have the primaries on target and have Cyan off a hair. Quite honestly, this isn't something you could even see during every day viewing, and as such I didn't mind making that sacrifice.

I've spent a lot of time and effort putting this system together over the past 5yrs and it's finally at a point where I can just sit back and enjoy it. I don't feel the need to upgrade a single thing ... I've gone thru at least 4 projectors, half a dozen dvd players and about as many AVR's .. this combination I am extremely happy with.

Thanks ...

I've posted my system in other threads, but I guess I'll make it official and post it here.

Pioneer Elite Signature 141 with Salamander Synergy Triple 20

Side view

Pioneer Elite SC-07 AVR with Pioneer Elite BDP-09FD Blu-ray player

XBox 360 Elite with PS3 60GB (original wih full PS2 backwards compatibility and SACD support)

The speakers are old DCM speakers which will be upgraded soon. HDTV is provided by AT&T U-verse.

I'm planning to add a few things to my Salamander and like I said, upgrade my speakers, so I'll post pictures when everything is complete.
