There are a lot of loopholes in the riddle. But if it is a homicide and the car is in perfect condition (no tampering), then the person killed the guy in the car locked the doors and rolled up the windows.

If he wanted to be discreet he could have incapacitated the person and locked the doors and windows and put the guy out in the middle of the desert (where he would dehydrate and die asleep). He could have also drained the fuel tank, in case the person woke up and tried to leave the desert.

this is the way it SHOULD be worded:

A man was shot dead in his car, but the windows
were rolled up and all the doors locked. He did not
commit suicide, nor was anyone in the car with him.
How did he get killed?

I know I know! Pick me!

he was in a convertible!

And you're right, that rules out most of the other guesses...

You are given a match and are told that unless you measure 15 minutes with these strings you will be killed, what do you do?

Realize that I won't figure it out and use the match to enjoy one last cigarette?
