Sorry, bored... but in the context of the OPs question those bands should NOT be in the list regardless of their prowess. Simple Plan too, but i'll let them slide as they are not rampant well known.

Demon (awesome 80's metal)
Impellitteri (Impellitteri, the guitarist, kicks ass.)
Alcatrazz (The band that introduced Yngwie Malmsteen)
Y&T (Good 70's rock. Had a large impact on heavy metal in the 70's and 80's)
Golden Earring (Sure lots of people may have heard of them, but I guarantee you those people only know 2 songs from them, Radar love and Twilight Zone. I own many of their albums.)
Nazareth (People that heard of these guys probably know only 2 songs from them, Hair of the Dog and Love hurts. I own many of their albums.)
Riot (One of my favorite metal bands of the 70's and 80's. Sadly, the vocalist who did the first 4 albums passed away about 3 years ago. The new vocalist, Rhett Forrester, who took over in the 80's for this band, was shot and killed in 1994. )
Sacred Reich (Not much people know who this 80's thrash metal band is. But they are great.)
Starz (IMO, one of the greatest classic rock bands of the 70's. Their 70's albums rocked. Sadly, hardly anyone knows who these guys are. Official website.)
Supertramp (The only songs some people may have heard from these guys are Breakfast in America, Take the long way home, and The logical song. For being a different kind of rock and roll, these guys are great.)
Zebra (These guys deserved to get a lot of recognition. They are amazing. Great 80's rock. Official Website)

Yes its the same name as the Jackass off-shoot group, but they got some awesome songs. (The serious ones at least)

Recommend "Close Yet Far", "96 Quite Bitter Beings", "Escape from Hellview", "Plastic Plan" and much more. They are kind of on the louder side (most of the time)
