Ghost Mice... super good accoustic punk leaning folk/country duo (guitar and violin)

Operation Cliff Clavin... super liberal pop punk, shares members with Ghost Mice
and the Devil is Electric

Fifteen... the most political punk rock ever. fronted by author/activist Jeff Ott (his solo stuff is worth checking out too. all accoustic, still super political)

Aesop Rock... the most amazing rap/hip hop you've never heard. smarter than your average mc.

Pig Destroyer... brutal metal 3 piece (singer, drums, guitar)

3 Inches of Blood... underground power metal. songs about orcs, etc.

Behemoth... black metal (i never know how to describe black metal bands outside of just saying they're black metal lol... Demigod is a great album)

Great Redneck Hope... amazing hardcore band with the best sense of humor ever. songs like "woah frankenstein, i didn't program you to make out with boys" and "call me old fashioned, but trains are kick ass"

Ed Gein... roughly the same idea as the above band song title "the marlboro man is a douchebag"

Squarepusher... spazzy IDM/drum N bass type music with jazz overtones. think aphex twin vs. weather report

Andrew Pekler... chill electronic influenced jazz. highly recommended if you like electronic OR jazz either one.

Los Crudos... angry mexican hardcore punk. en espanol.

that's good enough for now and covered some of the staple bands i listen to most often.

i somehow ended upwith a pinback album on my computer that didn't even have their name in the title anywhere... downloaded it thinking it was something else. was surprised it didn't suck once i actually listened to it.

As some others have said..

Anal Cvnt
Alkaline Trio - they have had some songs and videos, but I don't think they're that popular, atleast not their older stuff
Reggie and The Full Effect
(hed) p.e. - I don't like their latest album, but their previous three are good.
