One of the kitties here just died. Got really sick, could barely move, wouldn't eat/drink, and could barely keep anything down if force fed. Kitty wasn't old (no more than 8) and vet had no idea... So for a few days I was feeding a tiny amount of watered down food with a syringe every hour. As much as he could take without throwing it back up. One day in the evening, after feeding, he used the last of his energy to crawl over to the couch where his family was sitting, jumped up, and snuggled them with everything he had left. Then he fell asleep and a few hours later passed away.
He was a very good kitty. Extremely friendly with everything, total pacifist, playful, smart, and very sarcastic...always knew when you needed a good tease, and when it was appropriate to harass you.
Don't normally bother with dead pets/animals, but he was very special. We fashioned him a simple a casket, and I dug him a nice sharp 3ft deep grave next to an apple tree in the back yard...where he used to hang out in it's shade.
