That will provide a true and accurate reprensentation of how my system does in that game. 3Dmock gives me a basic idea, nothing more, and it's because it has been so overhyped and overvalued in the past that I do not place much faith in it now. I hope you understand my perspective now, if not, it's evident our viewpoints are too disparate to see the others.
heh.. well, that depends on perspective, i suppose
the only area we disagree on would be any benchmark gives a "true and accurate representation" of how a system does in "that game", as benchmarks can "selectively" show advantages in certain areas. again, i only need to refer you to nvidia's farcry benches to show that. even within the same game, different situations can be manipulated to empahsize a particular strength of one card over another
further, the lack of most benchmarks in showing actual performance over time which portrays min/max framerates under varying conditions can give a misleading picture of what you'll experience when actually playing that game, especially any online experience.
again, going back to 3dm03, the relative performance shown in that bench corresponds to the relative performance shown in many "acutal" d3d games, which to me shows it as a viable indicator of overall performance. one must however, put the appropriate amount of "weight" in those results, as they would any other single benchmark, synthetic or not.
