It's cold out if you live in a large portion of the United States. I've got some chili on the stove right now and was wondering what I would add for my next batch.

1lb hamburger
1 small can of tomato paste
3 cans chili hot beans
2 cans dark red kidney beans
2 cans of diced tomatoes
2 cans beer
1/4 onion cut into 1/2 inch pieces
enough chili powder to cover top of pot
black pepper
crushed red pepper

What's your recipe?

In before the "Chili doesn't have beans!!" crowd.

Here is the last recipe I used, it has a TON of ingredients, but is very tasty.

http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Boilermaker-Tailgate-Chili/Detail.aspx

* 2 pounds ground beef chuck
* 1 pound bulk Italian sausage
* 3 (15 ounce) cans chili beans, drained
* 1 (15 ounce) can chili beans in spicy sauce
* 2 (28 ounce) cans diced tomatoes with juice
* 1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
* 1 large yellow onion, chopped
* 3 stalks celery, chopped
* 1 green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
* 1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
* 2 green chile peppers, seeded and chopped
* 1 tablespoon bacon bits
* 4 cubes beef bouillon
* 1/2 cup beer
* 1/4 cup chili powder
* 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
* 1 tablespoon minced garlic
* 1 tablespoon dried oregano
* 2 teaspoons ground cumin
* 2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce (e.g. Tabasco&#8482
* 1 teaspoon dried basil
* 1 teaspoon salt
* 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
* 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
* 1 teaspoon paprika
* 1 teaspoon white sugar
* 1 (10.5 ounce) bag corn chips such as Fritos®
* 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese

Directions

1. Heat a large stock pot over medium-high heat. Crumble the ground chuck and sausage into the hot pan, and cook until evenly browned. Drain off excess grease.
2. Pour in the chili beans, spicy chili beans, diced tomatoes and tomato paste. Add the onion, celery, green and red bell peppers, chile peppers, bacon bits, bouillon, and beer. Season with chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, oregano, cumin, hot pepper sauce, basil, salt, pepper, cayenne, paprika, and sugar. Stir to blend, then cover and simmer over low heat for at least 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
3. After 2 hours, taste, and adjust salt, pepper, and chili powder if necessary. The longer the chili simmers, the better it will taste. Remove from heat and serve, or refrigerate, and serve the next day.
4. To serve, ladle into bowls, and top with corn chips and shredded Cheddar cheese.

It does, but it's called Chili with beans. If I make a pizza with white sauce I refer to it as a White Pizza. I'm pretty sure if a person ordered a pizza and got one with white sauce they'd go WTF is this! same deal with chili.

2lb ground beef
small handful of Oregano
1 garlic clove minced
2 tablespoons of chili powder
1 teaspoon of sugar
a dash of cinnamon.
a hand full of crushed red peppers
white pepper
Cayenne pepper
1 small can tomato paste + small can filled with water
some Masa flour to thicken it up.
a splash of vegetable oil.
NO FUCKING BEANS OF ANY KIND, NOOOONE! I've never made Chili with Beans so I have no recipe for that.

Then what is chili con carne?

san antonio enchilada sauce. the chili queens originally ladled out bowls of chili con carne and served them with a sleeve of saltines or tortillas.

But he said that chili doesn't have beans, so if carne is the meat, what is the chili?

That's the original name for it, but since it's supposed to be made that way I don't see a reason to add the con carne to the name. It should be spices, peppers and meat only, so the con carne should be assumed. That's how authentic chili is made and all, besides, anymore 95% of the "Chili Con Carne" recipes I see have a metric shit ton of beans in them. If I order a bowl of chili and it has beans, I'm burning down the fucking building. I shouldn't have to ask either, if a restaurant uses beans in their chili, fine! Just say so on the fucking menu!

But he said that chili doesn't have beans, so if carne is the meat, what is the chili?

Chili is the spices, it has chili powder and chili peppers in it, no beans. Or it would be called Chili Con Frijoles

Wendys chili is quiet possibly the biggest chili abomination & chili fraud of all times. It's like only 5% meat. RIP to Dave Thomas, and I generally love Wendys food, but that chili needs to be banned from even being allowed to be called chili.

2# course ground beef (cube up a chuck roast and pulse it a few times in the food processor)

brown this up well.
deglaze the pot with a bottle of your favorite beer.
add a big jar of salsa + a few diced ancho chili peppers + 2 TB tomato paste
add a few tbsp of chili powder + 1/2 tsp cumin
add cayenne pepper to taste for heat
crush up a couple handfuls of tortilla chips to thicken the chili and add salt

simmer for an hour or so.

ground beef/turkey
+whatever is in my kitchen cabinets
+couple of hours in the crockpot

I made some chili recently with chopped up onion, 2 cans of kidney beans, can of corn, frozen corn, frozen peas, 2 small cans of tomato sauce, sriracha, cumin, chili powder, salt, ground pepper, and a little water.

I'd like to think it was somewhat healthy by using some turkey and throwing in the veggies, but probably not.

from http://www.designbydon.com/ingerski/chili.html. best damn chili on earth

* 1 and 1/2 lbs of ground beef
* 2 medium green peppers
* 2 large onions (not Bermudas)
* 8-15 jalepeno peppers
* 1 large can of kidney beans
* 1 16oz can of "tomatoes for cooking"
* 1 small can of black beans
* Two 29oz. cans of tomato sauce
* 1/2 tsp of garlic (or to taste)
* 1 packet of "Sweet n Low"
* 1 capful of Liquid Smoke

* 1 tbls of Worcester sauce
* 1 tbls of A-1 Steak Sauce
* 4 tbls of BBQ sauce
* 1.5 oz. of chili powder
* 1 tsp of cumin
* 1 tsp of allspice or 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
* 1 tbl of Cayenne pepper (or to taste)
* 1 tbls of Lawry's Seasoned Salt (or its equivalent)
* 1 tbls of pepper
* 2 tbls of vinegar
* 1 cup of beer
* 1 tlbsp of Hershey's Cocoa

Brown the ground beef and break up to fine pieces while browning. DRAIN ALL GREASE. Mince up (easy with a food processor) the onions, green peppers, and jalepenos. Add the minced stuff to the hamburger. Drain the juices to the cans of kidney and pinto beans and "cooking tomatoes". Also, while the whole tomatoes are in the can, take a knife and mince them up also. Add all of these and remaining ingredients, stir well, and bring chili to a boil. Simmer at lowest heat while covered for two hours. Serve up with tortilla chips and shredded cheddar cheese for topping if desired.

I cooked some this weekend but made a FATAL mistake. The canned tomatoes I used had basil in it and it is overpowering the chili. All I taste is basil Also I soaked the beans for two freaking days and it cooked for 9 hours and they are still undercooked. WTF
