822 here, have a mortgage and a car payment plus ~10k in student loans. I have 3 credit cards that i rotate each month, that way the credit score can rise when it sees that i pay the card each month. I learned this the hard way about 4 years ago. I had 1 card that we paid everything on (~2500 each month) and paid each month, however, my credit score was falling because each month it would look like i just made the minimum payment as the balance always looked steady around 2500. So if you want credit cards to help your score, you need to pay off each month, and cycle the months you use them. Really lame, but people like us are the exception to most people out there.
is this for reals? maybe i should start doin that... im in a similar situation but 1200-1500 instead of 2500

I checked a few months ago and it was an 803. I co-financed a new car with my father when I was 18, didn't take any loans out (parents paid for college), and now since my parents moved 1600 miles away and didn't want to sell their house I'm living "at home" (so no mortgage, etc).
I'm 26 btw.

If you don't have a credit card, will you get a FICO score?
I don't have one, but will have ~$50k debt from subsidized school loans debt to pay when I get out by next year.
Mine is just a Bank of America check card with a VISA logo on it.
At first I've always thought it was a credit card because the VISA logo was on it, but was told it's not a credit card about 3 years ago.
So far, I've pretty much refused a lot of credit card offers on my campus...
Offer: Get a school bag for free.
Condition? Sign up for a credit card.
Offer: Get a year subscription of "Washington Times" delivered and a school bag free.
Condition? Same as above.
Offer: Free food at McDonalds(there were ads all over the place with no mention of anything but just free food)
Condition? Same as above...I'm actually disgusted that people actually waited in line to sign up to a CC for a free meal ticket.

Seconded.
I'm not willing to pay for this score.
If there's anywhere else I can see it or can be done for free without having to put my billing information, I'll do it.
Otherwise, I'll wait till after I graduate before paying for a FICO score.
