I don't know about my fps during play, but I never feel laggy or slow, its always smooth even during all the intensive fights.

Meh, I still want a 6800GT because it handles F.E.A.R and BF2 better, games I wanna play now, well currently playing BF2. And I will soon be getting FarCry which is also a 6800GT game.

Odd you mention BF2. AT's benching shows the x800XL smoking the 6800GT in BF2 http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2466&p=3

Vanilla?

Yup, it's a vanilla. littlewing, I hate to be the one to break this to you but a 6600GT and a 6800 vanilla are just about the same in most cases. The only advantage the 6800 had over the 6600GT was in the AGP version. You had about a 50-50 chance of unlocking unused pipes and turning it into a 6800GT. IIRC, that is not possible on the PCI-e version of the card.

Look at my stats vs. Guitar Daddy's vs. yours. His CPU is better and locked higher but my 6600GT is OCed a bit more than his. Our scores are very close. Neither your CPU nor 6800 is OCed. If you OCed, you could be in the same neighborhood easily.

AMD Athlon64 3800+ NewCastle @ 2.4GHZ (stock)
BBA X800XL @ stock core/mem speeds
1GB Corsair XMS PC3200 @ 2.5-3-3-8 (1T)
Asus A8N-E rev2.0

All Settings - High
AA - 6x
AF - 16x Anisotropic
Water - Reflect all
Vsync - off

1024 x 768 = 124.50 fps

I'd try higher resolutions, but my monitor blows .

6600gt's are just barely lower than a vanilla 6800 to start with, and mine is overclocked pretty well and my CPU is at 2780mhz.

Dangit Makaveli I almost had the highest scores!

No, no, my X800XL is NOT overclocked. No real need to, it plays all my games with 4x/8x AA/AF, overclocking something when it doesn't need to be is for the benchmark junkies.

That being said, the pathetic 420/540 OC from 400/490 I get on this card isn't really worth the effort.

Matt2 - I've gotten my card to 426/540 no problem, but I agree with your OC philosophy. I'll run mine OC'd for a couple days to bench and test but don't really see the need to run it 24/7 like that.

well said. I was gonna get a vga cooler for mine and oc it but it's worthless a 6800gt vs x800xl stock is close but when ocing gets into 6800gt can oc to ultra speeds easy.

YEah, that's it. Good enough for me though. I need to get my hands on a 6800GT! *twitch*

I don't know why I want one so bad, my X800XL is about the same speed with AA/AF turned on, so I'll just be wasting my money, but... damn I want a 6800GT.

lol Dandaman how is the X800XL beating the 6800GT in BF2, by like 4-9fps a smoking? But you were correct that the Radeons are just as fast or abit faster in bf2. So his first statement is indeed wrong. I also agree with what the others said about the overclocks beening worth it. I don't find getting 10extra fps are worth the extra heat and noise you'll be getting from the videocard *UNLESS were talking about an overclock that is helping u to go from not playable to playable*

Matt2 thats all fine and good, but it doesnt explain why you're getting 13 more fps than my x800xl -_- unless the vanilla is better than the asus? :S

Moeeom-

I'm gonna run the stress test at 2.4GHZ / DDR400 2.5-3-3-7

We'll see if the scores match up after that.

AF:16x

FPS: 90.34

At 1280 x 960

FPS = 105.75

At 1024 x 768

FPS = 134.77

Hmm whats up with Matt's x800xl? Why does it get 13 more fps than mine? I know my Asus x800xl is underclocked, thats why I bring it up to default using ATItool.....unless the better score is because of his better ram? Or did he overlock and never told us?

ok, same settings as you with same hardware setup. 2.4GHZ, DDR400 2.5-3-3-7, stock X800XL:

1024x768 - 141.61

1280x1024 - 102.88

This tells me two things:

1. The Vanilla X800XL is about 10fps faster than the Asus

2. Compared to my system in sig and the 2.4GHZ, DDR400, 2.5-3-3-7 I ran these benchmarks at, a little faster CPU, 31mhz memory difference and tighter timings made a whopping less than 1fps difference at the higher resolution.

Ouch, that hurts.
