If you are overclocking your e6750, please post:

1) Speed you are running at
2) Voltage you are running at in BIOS
3) Temp from CoreTemp 0.95.4 at idle
4) Temp from CoreTemp 0.95.4 running Intel TAT on both cores
5) Your room temperature

I think something might be wrong with my Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 cooling, here are my results:

1) 3.60 GHz
2) 1.475 Volts in BIOS
3) 47C/45C at idle
4) 78C/71C running TAT
5) 75F

ummm.. yes something is wrong. Go back to the 6750 OC clocking thread and look at all the temps there. You should be in the low 30's if not high 20's at idle. Probably a bad HS seating job. Reseat and try again.

I've read all the posts on that thread but there is a lot of confusion about the reading in TAT versus Coretemp. Coretemp 0.95.4 is adjusted correctly for the G0 CPUs so I'd like to see what people get. Also, a lot of people are leaving out key facts like room temperature.

I've re-applied thermal paste and reseated my cooler about 5 times now and each time I get the same results. I'm using a 1600RPM fan on my heatsink:

http://www.newegg.com/product/...p?item=N82E16835185006

and I'm wondering if it's enough?

Also, I am using the thermal paste that came with the Thermalright cooler. I can't imagine Artic Silver taking me down more than 1 or 2C, right?

Wrong

AS5 is much better. Also, how much are you using? It should only be PAPER THIN. I use drop the size of 2rice grains then spread it over with a razor blade using a painting motion. I get a fairly even coat that way and it works great.

You also might want to consider adding an extra case fan. I received a HUGE improvement adding a 120mm exhaust fan on mine.

1) 3.4ghz
2) Auto*cough* But runs at 1.28v with speedstep off
3) 28c/31c Core 0 and 1
4) Never ran TAT but with Orthos its 49c/50c
5) 70F (Its night, so its coolor.

Alright, my load temps look pathetic compared to others. I'm definitely going to get some more AS5. I've used it all the time in the past but since I ran out I figured I'd just use the thermal paste that came with the TR 120 Ultra Extreme but I guess it must be crap.

I just applied a thin line across the cores like the show on the AS5 web site, but this paste must be crap.

My case isn't the best but I also measured with the side off and a big fan blowing in and it only reduced things about 1C, so I don't think it's a case problem, must be the thermal paste.

I do think I'm going to try to pick up an Antec 900 case at Fry's though, that case looks sweet!

1) 3.6ghz
2) 1.45V set in BIOS, although the BIOS monitor and several programs seem to report 1.42V on idle
3) 26C/28C at idle
4) 48C/48C load (Orthos)
5) 77F

This is on a Big Typhoon. You might have an IHS concavity issue if your temperatures are that high. The choice of thermal paste alone wouldn't account for anywhere near that big a difference.

1) 3.6GHz
2) 1.45625V (1.408v in cpu-z)
3) 40/40 C Idle in 0.95.4
4) 66/66 C Orthos small FFTs load in 0.95.4
5) 17 C

Do you really need 1.475v for this overclock? With high voltage like that, it's going to run hot what ever paste you use.

1) 3.6
2) 1.4125V
3) 37/38 C Idle (Speedfan, can't run Coretemp)
4) 55/55 C Orthos small FFTs load
5) 23 C

I agree, 1.475 V seem high to reach that overclock.

Ok, I bought some AS5 and an Antec 900 case as Fry's. (KICK ASS case by the way).

One thing I had to do in order to use the side fan on the case is mount my TR Ultra Extreme 120 parallel to the top of the case! I haven't done that before, have any of you? I always had it perpendicular blowing out the back now it is blowing out the top.

So now I am at:

1) 3.6GHz
2) 1.475V in BIOS (Yes 5t3v0 I do need to try a lower voltage. 1.45 is not stable but I'll try something like what you are at).
3) 39C/38C at idle (AS5 hasn't cured yet though)
4) 67C/67C on Orthos small FFTs
5) 75F room temp.

So the AS5 and new case have made a HUGE difference for me! Thanks all for helping me realize just how important AS5 is!!!

1. 3.2 GHz
2. 1.328 ( I wanted a mild overclock)
3. 38c/37c w/ AC MX2 and Swiftech Apogee GT CPU Cooler Block
4. 46c/47c Orthos small FFTs load
5. 82 F Room temp

Coretemp 0.95.4

1) 3.504 (8x438)
2) 1.53 vcore in bios. 1.49 vdroop.
3) 30c idle
4) I've never been able to get TAT to work on my rig. orthos hits 55c at 3.504.
5) 24c ambient

I think something might be wrong with my Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 cooling, here are my results:

1) 3.60 GHz
2) 1.475 Volts in BIOS
3) 47C/45C at idle
4) 78C/71C running TAT
5) 75F

that seems a little bit hot to me. what fan do you have paired with the ultra extreme?

dude, I don't usually get excited about cases, but that antec 900 is GREAT. I spent $90 AR at newegg on it and I couldn't be happier. I wish I would have bought 2.

those temps are still high imho, but they're much closer. You probably do need to lap the cpu and/or the ultra extreme. That seems to be a common issue with them and doesn't seem to be that difficult to accomplish. When I bought my system I was worried about that since I'd never done it before so I went with the tuniq. After reading about how many people have done it, with not a single negative post about lapping, I must say that I would not be concerned about doing it at all now if it was necessary. When I was at 3.6 with 1.57 in bios, I idled at 35c and load full orhtos at 58c with my case fans on med and the tuniq stock fan at 1800 rpm. I don't have the side fan installed yet but I plan to get one at the first opportunity, no later than when I dump in the penryn quad core in Q1 but hopefully sooner. Interestingly, I was able to keep the side case fan holder intact with my tuniq facing rearward. I didn't realize that the ultra extreme took up so much more space.

1) 2.66GHz (not overclocked)
2) 1.35v
3) 29/30C
4) 47/47C
5) dunno, but I'm "comfortable", I'd guess about 22C.

E6750/GA-P35-DS4/Tuniq Tower 120 (fan on minimum)/Tuniq TX-2 paste. Also I think worth mentioning that I have a passive Sparkle 8800GT below my proc, and quite a lot of heat rises off of that!

Using Core Temp 0.96

I'm amazed that some of you are overclocking so high and getting similar temps to me, do you think my HSF installation could be improved?

Your temps seem similar to mine, maybe mine are high too, I don't know? I'm using Tuniq Tower 120 and Tuniq thermal Paste, I have reset the HSF to get these numbers:

1) 3.2GHz
2) 1.35
3) 37/39 idle.
4) 56/58 SP2004 small FFT's
4) 70-75 Room Temp

I know I need to reset my HSF again and get some AS5, but I'm comfortable with my temps and won't lap until I hit 70c.

4) Orthos Load Temp = 36C/35C
5) 18C
