It was a "kit" computer. With most of the assembly complete, but I still had to lay wire and solder a few posts on the motherboard when it arrived.
I later added a 1MB hard drive. I don't remember how much it cost, but I know I spent more than a month's pay on the HD alone!

I ordered my first computer the final week of 1995, it arrived around New Year's 1996.

Not sure what the specs were, my first machine had some weirdo GUI that was definitely not Windows, this was in the late 80's. It looked like a very slightly fancier version of DOS. It had a menu labeled games and had Ernie's Big Splash, Captain Comic, and Jill of the Jungle installed on it.

It was pretty sweet (especially Ernie's Big Splash)

My first computer I ever bought myself was an EMachines E600 with a Pentium III 600 MHZ processor and Windows 98. I remember it came with StarOffice instead of Word, an NVidia Vanta video card, and a muscular 32 MB of RAM. I convinced myself it ran Warcraft III at one point, but it was really more of slideshow. Friggin' Emachines. The Vanta was the worst discrete video card ever made.

Had an Aquarius for a couple weeks. Never managed to do anything with it.

Had a Trash-80 like this (looked like it but for some reason I keep thinking it's a model IV) for maybe a year or two, but never managed to do anything with it.

My sister lent me her Mac SE for a semester while she was studying abroad.

My first "real" computer was a clone that I purchased from a PC Warehouse store in Escondido, CA in 1990.
