After the Gateway Pentium 3 machine I got for my 21st Birthday, which was the first PC that was "mine" rather than a family computer, I eventually built an Athlon Thunderbird 1.2 GHz box with Geforce 2 MX, 256MB PC-100. That beauty ran everything well I still have the 2B pencil I used to fill in the factory-cut links that allowed you to overclock

KT133A and KT266A was pretty much the stuff for a while. It was more the KT133 and KT266 that were lackluster. (iirc, KT133 had buggy drivers and the KT266 had memory controller performance problems that were fixed by the -A revision.)

Of course, then nForce2 came out and it was all over. (Although I actually had boards based on the KT400 and KT880 chipsets, and they worked fine.)

My first PC I built was around late 98 or 99 I think.

Gainward 440BX based motherboard (adjusted FSB in the bios no more jumpers yes!)

MS Natural keyboard & Ms trackball
17" MAG Monitor (based on a sony trinitron tube)

edit: forgot the 56k viking LT modem

Thats all I recall some of the parts were carry over from my old PC (like the 8.4 gig HDD , the soundcard and the floppy)

I put this together as my Pentium 150 just just not cutting it anymore and I had finally saved up enough to buy the parts.

I had an old RS Color as well, but I didn't actually build that one..

Yeah you are right.

However to clarify, in my mind it was a build.

I needed to control an analyze Data involving Human reaction to various Visual and Verbal stimuli.

These little thingie (Color Computer) had an Analog to Digital Converter at the Game port input. I.e., it took Analog input (variable resistance, or low voltage changes) and changed them to Digital variables that can be used with the appropriate Apps to analyze reactions.

So I built an elaborate system that presented variety of commands to the Subjects and boxes that where hooked to the game port and provides outside input to be processed for research.

32 years old sample from that time.

Rest a sure that Humanity was better served by the scientific outcome of this builds than from the thousands of self build game Computers that are used for make believe Killing game.
