A well chilled vodka (usually Russian Standard, sometimes Stoly) hits in all the right places both winter and summer.

Since moving to Kentucky I've got fully hooked on bourbon. Old Fashioned is my go-to mixed drink now. I tend to keep three different bourbons on hand at any given time.

Trader Joe's $15 a bottle bourbon for mixing stuff like Bourbon and Ginger beer(in a copper cup this is a fantastic drink).

Buffalo Trace or Makers Mark for mixing stuff like old fashioned or manhattans where there isn't as much in the way of mixers.

Then something like Makers 46 or a small batch select for sipping straight.

What makes a copper cup great? I like the look since copper's my favorite metal, but didn't think I had a need for any. If it adds flavor, I might consider getting a couple, though I don't really use mixed drinks.

if it does add flavour, you would be drinking some copper... not ideal.

It's hard to really explain. The cup gets extra cold..FAST. And it's got just a bit of that metal "tang" to it that you taste when drinking. Those two combined just give that ginger beer & bourbon and bit more zing than drinking from a glass.

Would it be good for gin & tonic? That's about the only mixed drink I have on occasion.

Probably not the same effect. There's something to that citrus and sharp bite of the ginger that get an extra pop from the cup.

Dr. McGillicudis, the mentholmint flavor, and it always has to be warm. Cant be hot, but definitely dont drink it cold.

If im feeling extra frisky ill grab a bottle of pinnacle whipped cream vodka and a bottle of orange soda, make some delicious creamsicles. I avoid any kind of whiskey/bourbon at all costs, it makes me feel like my stomach is a pile of decaying fecal matter. Rum is nice though.

my new favourite word "handle"

never heard that nickname here in ontario, canada.

really? i don't think it's a local thing or anything. that's clearly not a handle though, that refers to the 1.75 one, with the glass handle on the bottle.

this is the handle (if this wasn't already obvious to you)

CR was the first alcohol I ever tried, was at my high school grad.

I don't really drink much, about the only thing I drink is wine, I'd say maybe a couple times a month at most.

And for the rest of the man-children of ATOT... Add the sugary mixer of your choice, with or without fizz. Coke, Mountain Dew, Red Bull, Snapple, grape Kool-Aid.

Trader Joe's 10 year single malt comes in a little under that around these parts (like $22-23, IIRC).

Didn't know they had a Scotch. How is it?

I drink Macallan 12 year. I'd rather drink the 18 year but that's for very special occasions as the 25 year is lovely.

A good VSOP or XO Cognac is nice

Tito's Vodka is good enough to drink straight.
