Getting 8800GTS in a week

I really didn't start to get into computers until about 2 years ago and even then I really didn't know nearly as much as I do now.

The Anandtech forums have basically taught be everything I know about computers
I've learned more about computers in the last year (at anandtech) then basically my whole life.

Technically anything prior to the GeForce was NOT a GPU due to lack of Transform and Lighting.

S3 Virge Graphics 2MB

Diamond Viper TNT2 ULtra 32MB

Gefore 2 GTS 32MB, T&L Baby! <----- Used this in my First build along with an AMD Thunderbird 750mhz Socket A CPU baby! Was awsome for Deus Ex and American McGees Alice and UT99

Geforce 3 Ti200 64MB <------Overclocked to Ti500 levels, awsome card, got it for 99 bucks at a Black Friday Special. Morrowind was the reason I got this card for the DX8 features

Radeon 9700Pro 128MB! <----- Paired with an AMD AthlonXP 2100+ at 2.4ghz this card just floored me in every respect, IQ, Speed, beauty. Was just an unreal Upgrade, biggest jump in graphics performance i've ever noticed.

Radeon 9800Pro 256MB with DDR2 Memory <------- Great card, but worst overclocker i've ever owned

Geforce 6800 128MB <----- Got this card for Doom III and also moved to skt 754 with an AMD64 2800+, huge boost in performance, loved that card.

Radeon 9800Pro 128 Refurbished <-------- Got this card from Newegg and went through two of them that were busted on arrival, ended u pjust takin a refund

Geforce 4MX 32MB <--------- Was really strugling for awhile and this was all I could afford, it was a pullout from an old Dell Machine.

Geforce 6800GT 256MB <--------- Not very impressed with this card, returned it after a week. Wasn't much faster than my 6800 on the same platform.

Geforce 7800GT <------- Card I own today and I love it, great. Fast, oc's to 460/1200 24/7. Great matchup for an AMD64 at ~2.5ghz.

Ahh I loved thte TNT and TNT2 era....so nice that many of you were around and used that..

as for me

Savage 4
Geforce 2 GTS-V (got it only because windows 2000 had no 3d drivers for the savage 4)
Geforce 4 MX 420 (had video out...at one point I was into anime and wanted to watch it on a TV)
Geforce 4 Ti 4200 (got it specifically to play WOW)
Geforce 7600GT <--- current and most likely last as its AGP and I'm not switching to PCIE for many years

despite the fact that the 7600GT is the most massive leap in terms of performance..I barely feel it because all i do is play DOTA and nothing else. I just didn't want to get caught paying 80% of the price for the same card 1.5 years from now since its the last AGP card and thus prices will always be a little higher

If anything the savage4 was the greatest leap to me...or maybe the ti4200

I kinda missed the time that Nvidia would use a name twice before switching to another name...It always made me interested in what new name their marketing would come up...Now we are on- geforce 8! My Gosh =-=

To me its weird when people start off at Geforce 4 or a Radeon 9XXX series...makes me feel as if I'm old

Now that I think about it, I did have to install one of those 512KB Tridents in 1992 in my 386SX@33MHz in order to have 256 colors in Windows 3.1 It also enabled me to play Simcity 2000.

Haha, I had it in my 486 DX 66MHz, 4mb ram, 130mb hard drive, 3 1/2 inch & 5 1/4 inch floppy drives (5 1/4 inch drives are REAL floppy disks ) and that computer was bought for $2500...mymy...how times have changed. I remember playing Simcity on that also...but the game I played the most on that was Dune(haha Atreides & spice harvesting FTW!!!). Ahhh...good times.

A question...was Dune the beginning of RTS games??
