I only got a 1310 on the SAT, which isn't bad but it isn't great either. My ACT score was 31, which is somewhat better. I don't really buy that an SAT score just good enough to auto-qualify me for a run of the mill state university puts me in the 99.156th percentile.

ASVAB I scored 89th percentile when I was 15, shit was way easy... Tho my classmate scored 28th percentile (she was ditsy though :hmm: )

I got a 98 and my MAGE (Air Force's) breakdown was 98 99 98 99 : p

I think SAT/ACT or ASVAB for that matter are terrible for trying to figure out your IQ though. They're not remotely close to what the IQ test is.

Then look at this chart

Then, of course, take 1 - your percentile and multiply that by 311,591,917 and post the number of people that are as smart or smarter than you in the US .

I found it humbling and I think we could all use some humbling from time to time.

Yeah honestly all these tests (except maybe the GRE being not too far off) suck for estimating IQ. And honestly it isnt what your IQ is, it's what you do with your life.

Ha, yeah its about the same for me, about 135 for my old SAT score when I took it in 6th grade. I took the ACT later in life though and that points to ~135 as well... Though online IQ tests I get like 150+!

Anyway by my best guess there are ~3,000,000 people smarter than I am.

If its not a your native langage then that's a confound that only applies to how well you can do in verbal jobs in english.


There is a LOT of empirical literature showing that aslong as the job uses intellect greater intellect means greater job performance.

I've taken one legitimate IQ test (as in, not converting from SAT/GRE - which is complete bullshit) and scored 149.

I have a pretty wide variance in my test results (13 points) depending on which test it was and when I took it. Normally the variance is under 10 points between testings, but I started at 5 or 6 and have taken over a dozen entirely different test types (SB, WAIS, WISC, Mega, Titan, etc), so it's not all that unusual to have the slightly wider gap.

At the lowest end there are 13,057 people equal or higher, at my highest score there are 247. My most common result (where I figure I actually am) is 659.

Oh, and for those of you calculating from percentile, don't forget that it's STILL percentile...so carry two decimal places. You can check your results by computing based on rarity given in that chart (ie 311,591,917/rarity). The two should nearly match if you've done your math correctly.
