its probably memory latency bound per thread ( thus good scaling) if you lower your memory latency ( up clock, lower cas etc) do you good perf improvements.
The Stilt said:
Steamroller and Excavator have around 35% higher DRAM latency than Piledriver at the same exact settings.
But that quote doesn't explain why Piledriver did so poorly against my Lynnfield.

The hell. My CPU is utterly terrible in comparison. 965 BE @ 3.4Ghz stock took 4:05.

Havnt followed the post.
Do we have any core i5 vs i7 same gen and freq so we tell the impact of HT?

Or we could just disable hyperthreading. Or just look at Cinebench for the multithreaded multiplier which is usually 25% higher than it should be, i.e. 5x for a 4c/8t cpu or 10x for an 8c/16t cpu

2500k @ 4.5GHz 1.32v, 4x4GB DDR3-1866 10-11-10-30 1T, w10 Pro x64

Using the updated blender file (RyzenGraphic_27.blend) that is set at 150 samples

Blender 2.78a x64
Time: 1m 44s / 104s
CPU package power meter: 79w

The Stilt's build (Blender_278_1412GIT_AVX2_MSVC)
Time: 1m 13s / 73s
CPU package power meter: 85w

30% improvement from using AVX, nice.

Scientific Linux 7.2
Intel i7-4790 (4 core /8 threads) 3.6-4.0 GHz Base/boost
150 samples.
51.62 sec

Windows 7
Intel i7-2600 (4 core /8 threads) 3.4-3.8 GHz Base/boost
150 samples
105.04 seconds

Interesting that 2500k @4.5 GHz = 2600 stock.

Q6600 at 3ghz, DDR2 at 800mhz
150 samples
03:12:16
That was a fairly clean run. I restarted, waited several minutes, then killed most background tasks that were doing anything.

On a previous run, with Firefox, Steam, Dropbox, Cobian, and other misc stuff running, it ran at 03:27:xx. Don't underestimate the cycles being wasted if you're not trying to do a clean run.

I did another run with my i5-6400 @ 4.455Ghz (BLCK OC to 165.0 BLCK), 4x4GB DDR4-2400-ish.
150 Samples.
01:30.79 time

Note that this wasn't a clean run (none of mine were).
I have Waterfox, F@H (only on GPU, but it does take some small CPU cycles), Skype, Task Manager, BOINC Manager (sitting idle), GPU-Z, and CPU-Z running.

i7-5820K @Stock 3.3GHz + Turbo Boost enabled but it doesn't work while rendering with blender because frequency stays at 3.3GHz, on Cinebench works. Doesn't know whats happening there...
00:34:93 - 100 samples
00:52:53 - 150 samples

Can it be that it didn't worked on 6900K on AMD presentation? Can someone of you test it on your system with any other intel CPU?

You have Haswell-E. Broadwell-E is a different design and it has been verified that it(6900K) usually turboes to ~3.5Ghz in MT workloads (so across all 8 cores).

Here's what I got with 150 samples. Stock i7-3770 (non K) @ 3.4 GHz with 8 GB DDR-3 @ 1333 MHz.

(snip)i'm not a blender guy, but wouldn't this benchmark be stressing the floating point units more than integer? What says folks here?

Although there is a lot of floating point in a Ray Tracing algorithm, there is an good amount tree searching and house keeping to balance it out. My guess is it's probably bottlenecked by cache more than anything else.

Using system in Sig:

Code:
100 Samples : 38.65 sec
150 Samples : 57.74 sec
200 Samples : 76.84 sec

4.5GHz run

Time to get this 2500k sweating.

5.1GHz 1.5v, same memory settings. Cooling is a TRUE spirit power 140m, and lots of case airflow. Around 26°C ambient temperature

RyzenGraphic_27.blend, 150 samples

Blender 2.78a x64 (1.5v)
Time: 1m 32s / 92s
Package power: 96.5w
4.5 -> 5.1 GHz = 12 seconds faster / 11.5% faster

AVX/AVX2 build (1.52v needed @ 5.1GHz to finish the run)
Time: 1m 04s / 64s
Package power: 105w
4.5 -> 5.1 GHz = 9 seconds faster / 12.3% faster

Same 30% improvement on AVX build at 5.1GHz, linear scaling over 4.5GHz. 5.2GHz isn't doable with current cooling or ambient temperatures (crashes mid run, I'm not willing to increase vcore anymore, not at >80°C). I've found myself needing more multi core brute force lately, I'm looking forward to my next platform doing these numbers (or better) at stock, non suicide settings

Theoretically,

If a 3.4 ghz flat Ryzen SR7 scores 36 seconds @ 150 Samples in the Blender test
A 4.5 Ghz overclock will yield ~27.2 seconds
A 4.7 overclock will yield ~26.0 seconds
A 4.8 Ghz overclock will yield ~25.5 seconds
A 5.0 Ghz overclock will yield ~24.4 seconds

4.125 Ghz stable 6950x on 20 Threads ~ 24.92 second (AdamK47's score)

Lets hope max overclock ranges on Ryzen is only slighlty behind piledriver.

4770k @ 4.2 GHz with Blender 2.78a x64 (from blender.org)

- 150 samples, 66s.
- 100 samples, 46s (or 48? don't remember lol, I ran it last night).

I did have some programs running though but nothing major (downloads mostly).

Skylake 65W. I7-6700@3.4GHz
DDR4 memory @2133Mhz.
HT enabled : 8 cpu cores in W10 resource monitor

set at 150 samples.
Time = 1:04:42.
