my oldest working card used for troubleshooting. (until the pci slots all disappear from mobos...)

What I want to know, is why cover up the serial numbers?

Someone going to steal your warrenty that expired a decade ago?

I'd love to go back and try some of the old graphics cards on older games, just to see if they really lived up to the hype. My copy of Black and White 2 has a bit in the instruction booklet about the then-just-released Radeon x800s with 16 pixel shaders. OMG!

He could have 'borrowed' (from a "friend") or from work, and when the bean counters (or cops) finally noticed it is "missing" ("stolen"), they launch a image search on the web pointing them to this thread, and voila! Busted!

riva TNT2 Vanta 16MB (or was it 32MB?) - utter POS, but at the time i was so happy, it was part of my first computer

Inno 3D Geforce 2 Titanium 64MB - replaced the Vanta in the same computer, had lot of problems with it (still do not know why, maybe weak PSU)

MSI Geforce 6600GT 128MB - first decent GPU i had, was part of my new Athlon64 build, allowed me to play again NHL 06, Age of Empires 3, Homeworld 2....but it could not run Half-Life 2 Lost Coast at 30 FPS for example...still, i was quite happy with it

Gainward Radeon HD 4870 512MB - was first "high-end" GPU i had, could run Crysis 1 on it at 1024*768 quite fluently...but it was very very loud, even at idle, as one of 2 fans it had could not be regulated and run nonstop at 50 percent (i think)...i was getting used to it for quite a long time, the 6600 was silent compared to it. My only ATi card...

Gainward GTX460 GS 1GB Goes Like Hell - build last summer for this system, ran very good and reasonably silent, but i sold it after maybe 2 months, as i started to play around with CUDA and needed more VRAM, at least i thought so and wanted to be "prepared" for any case...

Gainward GTX460 GS 2GB - bought basically the same card instead, with lesser clocks and more RAM and later second for SLI (the reason was CUDA again, needed more rendering power). Found out SLI was a bad idea, very hot a noisy solution, in the end i was using one card only LOL)... money down the drain...and later found out the GTX470 was at the same price as 2GB 460,aaaah....awful string of choices

Gainward GTX590 3GB - sold one of the 460s to my buddy, put the other into the box (and now cant decide whether to sell it too or keep it and replace the 4870 in my older machine with it...) and 3 weeks ago bought 590 instead. Best card i had so far, powerful, but reasonably silent...but obviously the most expensive one. Never thought i would own dual-card one day, but then again never thought would have SLI

....
Thanks for giving me a solid brain puzzler. I am quite embarrassed to admit that I had to think for a sec about the sequencing.

Voodoo + Virge 3D (end of the PCI era)
Riva TNT
Voodoo3
Voodoo4500
Voodoo5500
Radeon DDR
Radeon 7500
Radeon 8500
GeForce 4 4400TI
Radeon 9800
ATI X800XL (end of the AGP era)
GeForce 7900GS
GeForce 7950GT
GeForce 8800GTS 512MB
GeForce GTX 260 (now sold to Tropic55) had it from 7/26/2008 until 5/24/2011 - and it is still a solid GPU
GeForce GTX560 TI (current)

Sis 530 on-board (on a PC-Chips M598LMR... can't believe how much it sucked)
256MB XFX GeForce FX5200 (noob purchase decision)
128MB BBA ATI Radeon 9800Pro (RMA'd, but it was awesome)
128MB eVGA GeForce 6600GT AGP (awesome too)
256MB XFX GeForce 8600GT (my first PCI-E... kinda OK)
512MB Point Of View GeForce 8800GT (RMA'd too, great card)
512MB Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4850 (my personal favorite to date)
1GB Gigabyte GeForce GTX460 (great card, just sold it)

Now it'll be either a GTX560Ti or a HD6950, depending on the $ I have.

Currently waiting on the new crop of cards to come out and will be buying the best bang for the buck card around Christmas time. To give an idea of how old my system is, it's using an Opteron 165.

if i was brave enough to go down into my basement and pull out the old box... brave as in i didnt mind getting covered in soot / dust...

i think i might find a i740.... lol...
i remember seeing one in there.

Oh my Intel Sossoman setup has a original RAGE 3D onboard.
