Potato Guns

I'll admit, I have one, its awesome, can shoot stuff to at least 1/6 of a mile.

I can fit anything from potatoes down to marbles or paintballs.

I made a mini attachment.

anyways, who has one, and who wants one.

I know they are illegal in some states, but others you can have them.


maybe ill take some pics later if people want to see it, im too lazy to do it right now.

its a PVC made, and is hairspray combustion if anyone cares. I know some people like air powered though.

I once tried to shoot a potato gun as straight up as possible... when my buddy and i lost site of it, we ran and hid under a tree... it landed about 2' from where we had launched it...

I made one back in high school. We shot those little mini limes out of it. The first one went about 100 feet. We could never make it fire again.

Well I once took a 5Gallon Water Jug and filled it with gasoline and WD40 and any other type of flammable liquid and then put a hole for a wick and then put a potato on the top opening.

When I lit it the potato exploded and a 15 foot flame came out of the top of the 5 gallon container. Sounded like a jet engine and scared the crap out of me.

Luckily my neighbors were not home to complain.

My best friend and I (best friend from elementary/middle years) built one and fired it off in the clearings behind the woods behind his house. Simple one made out of PVC and used aerosol as a propellant. Shot the potatoes pretty damn far though. It was fun.

Get a 5 gallon water jug like so,

Then fill it about 1/4 the way up with Gasoline and any other flammable liquid you can find(just make sure they dont make a chemical reaction with each other.)

Make a small hole above the gasoline level.

Make a wick with a gas soaked string.

Stick the string into the hole and in the gas.

Put a potato on the top hole of the container.

Light it and book it to at least 30ft away from this monster before it fires up.

I have a potato gun. I can't fire it anymore until I fix it. The holes where the 2 ends of the barbecue igniter enter broke their seal, so it leaks and loses all it's power.

I have a pneumatic potato gun, it has and will continue to put most hairspray cannons to shame. It is a coaxial piston style cannon, with a 6 inch air chamber and a 2 inch barrel, although the barrel has a threaded coupler to screw different diameter/length of barrels onto it. The whole thing is about 6.5 ft long before adding any extra barrel.

One of my friends back in high school made one, PVC aerosol wrapped with nylon threaded tape for reinforcement. We were shooting those glow stick bracelets through lawn furniture until the back screwcap blew off and took a quarter-sized chunk out of his knee. Good times.
