They don't ask for any kind of information (serial number, etc) when you call for a replacement?

Whats the problem with the hs/fan that comes on it?

Nope, it's a known problem and they didn't ask anything, except my mailing address.

I beleive the problem is that the old fan is very loud and can stop working, leaving your northbridge to heat up.

Thanks for the link amcheck. I'm guessing though, if they've been sending out replacement fan setups since early may, theres a decent chance that motherboards being distributed now will already have them (hopefully).

Anyone who has already gotten the desktop bundle. Does your chipset fan look like the old one or the new one?

Thanks for the info amheck. I was about to call to get the fans headed my way to avoid future problems and I ran across this Old vs New Northbridge Fan Pics (Asus A8N) at FW and realized the New Fan came with the A8N-E boards I picked up at the chi show.

I can verify, too, that the board I just got at the Tampa show today has the new fan, too. Whew! I guess I have an extra one around now, just incase!

MAN! That place was NUTS!!!!

Long line to check in. Started forming at 3PM. Didn't get inside until 3:45 and there was nowhere to sit. The had to bring in more chairs. I stood.

After about an hour and a half, they had us get our stuff. Only a half an hour wait in line for that.

Then we got food. Long line at the buffet. About half an hour.

Met up with my favorite AMD tech, Ozzy. And said, "I'm outta here" before they did the free drawings. Free stuff is great, but I was getting WAY claustrophobic in there with all of the mega-nerds shoulder to shoulder.

I do like my new mobo, CPU and OS. I only wish I got BOTH bundles. What a deal!

I left, too, after I picked everything up. I really wasn't interested in any more computer architure talk. Although I did kinda want to see the MCE presentation. Hopefully they didn't give away anything nice. But with all those people, you'd hardly stand a chance.

They started handing the bundles out around 5:45. I think the way they set up the lines was a little chaotic, but I got my bundle after standing in line for about 15 or 20 minutes. Sweet deal. I think the room was a tad small for the amount of people they had. I took off after I got my bundle. I got a couple of pics with my cell phone but I'm sure they turned out crappy.

edit:

oh yeah, and make sure if you do this to order the bundle before you go. Some guy next to me wanted to buy a bundle there and they wouldn't let him, he was pretty upset.

From Tampa on June 14. I was lucky and sat right in front of the tables where they gave out the bundles, no waiting. No tax that I know of, haven't checked CC yet though. No SCSI on Dual Board. Lunch was free as stated.

I din't see ANY freebie hardware mentioned after the last stop. No headphones or USB hubs. Shirts and a cap were it.

WinXP x64 Pro says not for resale on it. Windows Server 2003 Enterprise x64 says nothing.

And just for Garlic, no pictures, suffer.

I don't know dude, they asked me for my license. Maybe if you have another form of ID like a Student ID? I don't know if they would accept that though, sorry...

Wait wait wait...

is that free ATI video card situation an anomaly, or will they be giving out PCI-E cards at all the shows?

I believe a passport is one of the valid legal forms of ID, along with a driver's license, non-driver's ID, and military ID. I know when I worked in retail we HAD to (by law) accept any of these, couldn't just demand a license. Could also try a birth certificate.

My credit card has my picture/sig on it so no drivers license requeted but they DID check IDs, any photo ID would do fine I'm sure.

I asked about fee ATI cards and the guys face got red and he said, "I just got here and don't know anything about it", don't count on it. Anonamally

The only benefit of arriving early would be to sign in and avoid waiting the massive lines. I would go a little early, sign in and then go do something else.

WIth that many people, don't count on winning anything.

Just because your CC has a signature and picture on it doesn't mean you can use it as an ID. People always used to give me the weirdest looks when I asked for their ID, they'd always be like, "My picture is on the front." No s**t.

At the end of show after the Q & A session they gave away stuff by pulling cards attendees had filled out earlier out of a bag..things like hats,t-shirts, Win Server 2003 (forgot which version tho), a single ati X600Pro AIW, 4 Opterons, a(might have been 2 ) MSI RS480 mobo, and more hats and tees. For filling out some contact form upon tendering when leaving got an AMD TechTour 2005 ballcap (earlier shows got more schwag like a usb hub as well as other goodies). At the start the amd guy handed out a few hats as well as everyone upon signin got a bag like shown in word2that's pic above....the assorted vendors also at their booths had items every so often like logoed pens for the taking. Yes winning anything is an anomaly. As well as being at the Seminole HardRock Hotel and Casino
