*cough* I'm pretty sure that you can find a way around it though. *cough*

Hey, believe whatever makes you feel better.

I think they're just sold out everywhere. I'm going to Boston and it's sold out (if I'm wrong please correct me).

So am I correct in believing that those of us who have already ordered bundles will still get them, but they are not accepting any more orders?

If so, sorry, I bought the last server bundle last night

I would assume so. I started getting nervous about them running out this weekend, and placed an order (thankfully). My CC has already been charged, so I would think that means they have one for me. Ours is tonight, so I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I tried to place my order on Tuesday for the Atlanta show (Thursday) and got this email:

"We apologize but due to the popularity of the AMD/Microsoft Tech Tour 2005 Desktop and Server show special offers, we are currently SOLD OUT. Please check back for future availability".

I sent an email to info@marketbuilder2.com asking if they would give me a raincheck and they replied back saying "unfortunately, our inventory is sold out for both bundles right now. We don?t know when we will be getting more bundles".

Guys, don't do what I did... wait 'til the last minute.

If you want a bundle, you better see if you can still get one or send an email to stir things up!

Is this deal dead now? I can't find the bundle info on the web site. I got there the first time, but my system crashed (Ironic, MB failure) before I could order. The tour is coming to my neighborhood, but I would only be going for the deal.

any thoughts?

I had trouble ordering my bundle (desktop) online like many others did. I ended up sending an email to AMD asking for help with ordering a desktop bundle. This is the reply they sent me (June 4th):

The bundles must be pre-ordered, as they will not be for sale at the event. Please contact Direct.com Integrated Marketing. Direct.com is handling the Tech Tour bundle orders for us and they will be happy to assist you. You can reach them at 305-648-0910.

Best regards,

AMD Solution Provider Team

I was able to order a desktop bundle from them on June 4th.

Seeing the posts here that they were now out of bundles for the shows, I just called Direct.com. I told them that I had ordered a desktop bundle but have decided that I would like to order a server bundle as well (and that I had heard that all of the bundles were sold out and no longer available). The gentleman I spoke with at Direct.com confirmed that currently all of the bundles were sold out but that they were working on trying to get more. He said that they should know in a couple of days (specifically by Monday) if any more bundles would be available for sale to registered show participants. He said to give him a call on Monday and he should have an answer.

I will be calling them back on Monday to try and order a server bundle. I'll post here after I call them back on Monday - regarding the availability of the bundles. BTW, I'm going to the July 1st Sunnyvale, CA show.

I know they still had both bundles left after the Tampa show. I sat in the first row directly in front where they gave them out. They had many left and reboxed them after show was over.

I would think that if you already have an order, you'll likely it. If not you're likely hosed.

AMD didn't seem pleased with all the non-tech general people there picking up stuff. I got one set. My wife and I took it to the car, then went back in. However, there were MANY people leaving and said they were not returning to hear the rest of the seminar. I saw grandpas there that I'd bet never turned on a computer in their life, only there as warm bodies to get the stuff. The guy ahead of me in line was with his wife and they were getting 2 sets of both systems according to the docs they had. AMD even stated during the show that they thought 1/2 attendees were not true system people. The Microsoft guy asked how many gamers there were, and there were a lot according to the cheers. They were less than thrilled when a prize winner's employer was Best Buy. The large amount of Boo's from the crowd didn't help either. There were a lot of very young people that were obviously not system people based on age and atire. I am a Sr. System Admin/Programmer, supporting PC stuff, Unix, and Mainframe am not the type of person they wanted either.

They said over 1000 attended, more than expected evidently since there were not enough chairs.

Yeah, I'm a system admin too and have built a dozen or so AMD machines, including a couple servers, for work, but I also wonder if I'm who they were targetting. Who, exactly, WERE they targetting? Michael Dell? They could have accomplished this with a phone call or e-mail to large system builders like that if that's what they wanted.

In any case, they sent ME the e-mail, two of them in fact, and I took them up on their offer.

And if there were 1,000 there at Tampa, I can't imagine how many there will be in Sunnyvale.
