Truly, I'm quite flattered that you've taken such a personal interest in your fellow ATHD'rs. Since you seem so curious, mine with either be an IIS box at work or a DAW. Also, my favorite color is green, I like moonlit walks on the beach, I'm 6' tall, and my interests include reading and running in long distance races.

But, ya, most people probably want it for the same reason you want it so stfu.

Gee, there's no need to tell anyone to STFU, that''s just rude. BTW, I hope you're not getting the desktop bundle too, because according to your own post you should be paying $30 more for it at Monarch, WITHOUT an OS included.

Actually, I plan to run XP64 on the dual opteron bundle if it becomes a DAW and I'll take Server 2003 to work. The desktop MB/CPU will be part of an MCE machine if that's the case.

And, ya, we've pretty much established that almost none of us are the kind of system builders they were targetting--AMD seems to have accepted this fact as well, nor that we plan to do anything but benchmark stuff to feed our e-ego's. So I don't think we need any hypocrisy or guilt-trips from someone who probably is just bitter they missed the "deal". But, ya, I'll remove the explitive. :lips:

I think I ended up pretty lucky. I showed up at 5:20 or so, by the time I registered people were coming out to get in line for food, I quickly got in front. I ate a few fajitas, I saw a guy with his bundle (and some alien sack looking backback, quite weird) and then went to pick up my bundle. I was in the S line which was rather long. Took 20+ minutes. I proceded to the Microsoft booth and got the 2 free t-shirts after I flirted with the Microsoft goon (well my friends did) They asked lame questions like Microsoft Volume Licensing includes full operating sytem blah blah blah.. which I said true but was actually false because it only includes "upgrades". We then argued that we (as techs at a High School disitrct with 20,000 PC's never "upgrade" but always do fresh installs. They accepted the question as rediculous and we went on our merry way. Wasn't as busy as I expected and I didn't see one bit of the presentations, got my Tyan and Asus and got the hell out of dodge.

I will use it for an uber gaming machine... only because it was upgraded... if it was the original motherboard I would have used it as a server.

And guys, please don't fight! I got the e-mail for this deal, not by going here so I felt entitled. If AMD didn't want us there they would be more anal like Intel and actually screen people out.

Sadly I missed out on the bundle. I had ordered the server bundle for pickup at the Irvine event, but due to a family emergency couldn't be there. I tried to talk the Burbank crew into giving me one with my Irvine confirmation, but it didn't work. So if anyone wants to be a hero and sell me their server bundle, I'll gladly kick $50 plus shipping your way

Yeah, but the decent thing to do would have been to sit down and listen to some of their presentation. instead of waltzing in there, taking the bundle and all the free stuff and leaving. But then some people don't have much of a conscience I guess.

I plan on sitting through the entire event. They at least deserve that much.

I sure did.

I'm sorry, I have this thing called WORK and I can't take it off to get there on time. Plus I am not exactly local to burbank. I left work 30 minutes early and still didn't get there till 5:35. I drove 120 miles yesterday to burbank and back, I feel entitled to walk in an walk out. I spent an hour+ there which is good enough for me. If you got the time to stay, then by all means. But So Cal traffic is terrible and waiting to see who won some sandisk mp3 player wasn't exactly worth my time It is not that I don't have much of a conscience, it is that I have "priorities". Of course I wanted to stay but my friend(s) had to drive to victorville (another 60 miles or so) after he drove back to my house so I wasn't gunna stay till the very end.

Decency to stay? What for? To learn information I ALREADY KNOW? You would think I was being nice by not staying and giving the people who did a better chance at winning the raffle.

Someone needs to get off their high horse and just STFU! You don't know me, you don't know the circumstances surrounding my situation, so don't insult. I've been coming to AT for 6+ years for deals and one thing I have learned is there is NO NEED TO THREAD CRAP! Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you need to share it! You can tell I abide by my rule as I come here several times a day but I don't post in every little thread I can to up my post count.

Hope you get your bundle and I hope you have the time to stay till the end!

It should say down at the bottom under the "shipping information" to which event you're registered. I only wonder if you could have accidentally signed up for the wrong location.

Ebay is flooded with these server packages. If you are getting it for that, you're probably only going to make $100 or so. And that's if you kick in the OS. You might want to try and hold out for a month or two after the shows are over and sell it then.

I plan on keeping mine

Man, you just don't get it. Do you think AMD put on this event because they like giving stuff away for free? That free stuff is meant for people that are involved with building or selling AMD-based products. And the whole point of giving the freebies and discounted hardware is to get them there to listen to their presentation. For those people that are actual system builders, the presentation was informative and useful. Now I'll admit that I'm not a real system builder and I went there mainly for the bundle, and I felt bad about that. But at least I had the decency to get there on time and sit through the presentation. Other people have jobs and have to drive through the same SoCal traffic that you did. In fact I had to drive 80 miles each way, farther than you. Did I have to stay there for the whole thing? No, I could have walked in and out like you did, but the difference between you and me is I have a conscience. It would have bothered me to be a jerk like that. I don't feel "entitled" to crash events for free stuff. People like you don't care about anything but yourself. Generally, people like you are known as a-holes.

Only a very lucky few got anything free. Everyone paid for their bundle and AMD even made a very nice profit. If AMD intended to connect with the "real" system builders they could have saved themselves a lot of money and taken all 25 of them on a trip to the Bahamas. Their dog and pony show was intended to create AMD evangelicals who would go forth and spread the word. What ever the reason for attending, AMD accomplished their mission with every person that bothered to show up.

Ya, think of just the interest alone they made on holding $750 x 10,000 for the past month.

Sad this has to be my 1st post. I've been coming here for probably 4-years now and must express gratitude and praise of those that take the time to let others know of good deals. Most assuredly...if I had known of any worth mentioning, I'd have posted it. So please excuse that this is my 1st post.
Morph...think about what you are implying, as you are way out of line. In fact...you'd have to be BLIND not to see it if you just took a few minutes to reflect on it. First and foremost...remember...what is it that we all come here for?? Hot Deals!! I find no fault with xDanielx whatsoever. He explained perfectly clearly he knows what they had to say and it was kind of him to leave the freebees to others. Morph...we come here for deals...not pious lectures. Come Sunday...there would be plenty enough found in a much better sermon (if so desired).
racer42 put it very clearly...I won't waste space Quoting up the kazoo. As a Manufacturing Engineer...I can assure you, without hesitation or slightest doubt, that AMD and Others there lost nothing and made a fair profit to boot. The Players are jockeying for position as the next step up approaches. Marketshare, Name Recognition, etc...all play a Huge Part in the game. AMD and Asus weren't hurt a bit by those who ran out with there pre-paid-for-prizes. They cut out the middle-man and sold the packages at what close to what the dealers get them for...so how could they lose?
Sadly...I had no website to use when registering, so it looks like this old POS I use will have to serve me a while longer. Cheers to those more fortunate and sympathy to those less so. Cheers!

Well, will be interesting to see if I get the combo. I am home from college for the summer and my dad got the e-mail from AMD and signed up for the Sunnyvale tech tour and ordered a desktop bundle for me. He does work for a company that builds media encoding systems. Now he decided he doesn't want to go and I am still going, but he ordered with his name and CC info. I have his order info printed out and his CC, but I have a feeling they won't let me take a bundle. Oh well, be cool if I see someone there from Anandtech. I will be the nerd in jeans and a black polo shirt.

I would love to have attended the tour. I would have sat, eyes wide open and tape recorder on full. Unfortunately, we don't all have that good of fortune, and the tech tour won't be hitting us.

Be gratefull...

Nope.
I did everything right, according to AMD.
I even got my badge and free AMD bag at the event.
It was just some glitch that caused my name not to be on the list.

Apparently, it happened to about 300 of us lucky individuals.:frown:
I should be getting a coupon in the next 2-3 weeks to allow me to reorder the bundle and have it shipped to my house.

Not the most convenient thing but that just gives me more time to put my new system together.

Anyone selling any Raptors for cheap?

Yikes. Well, I'm bringing my order confirmations because I'm driving 120 miles each way and will be fighting 4th of July traffic back north once it's over. Come on you Bay Area yuppies, you can go other places besides Tahoe you know!

Fry's usually has deals on raptors....sometimes unadvertised. Check them out if you're near one.

Seem like only a very small percentage of people had their name missing from the list.
Unfortunately, if your names not on the list you can't pick up the bundle, even with your order confirmations. :disgust:
