Circuit City B&M stores are clearing out their stock of Apples. I just got an open box, full-warranty iBook 600 mHz CR-RW/DVD for $1009 plus tax. It retails for $1499.

Call your B&M Circuit City and ask about their remaining iBook stock. Some people have gotten brand new iBooks for the same price. $1009 is the lowest they will go.

Good luck, and let the anti-Apple flaming begin....

If anyone cares... CC in Culver City (los angeles) has one ibook left brand new and locked in the case -- ask for rodney or a supervisor as only they know about it. Good luck at getting them to budge off of the $1299 price. Their argument is that it is brand new and get out of my face. They can keep it at that price. I do know one of you out there has superior negotiating skills (i.e. master of the jedi mind trick), so have at it, and good luck!

The ibooks are pretty well priced already so if you score one of these then its a real jackpot. I was really considering one for a while but it just costs too much and is too complicated to be dual-platformed. But those ibooks are really sweet. CDRW/DVD, 3d card, incredible size for students and horrible color all for under $1300. Too bad PC makers cant catch on because ive been looking for a replacement for my Gateway 3150 for a while and the mac specs fit the bill perfectly. Except the OS. DAMN!

Can you guys that score on this deal post your receipts?

I am going to go check my local CC, but a receipt from my 'cousin' could assist in proving that another CC is clearing out of these. Thanks.

Hey all,

Anyone else able to find any of these iBooks? Vernon Hills, IL has 2 CRT iMacs left. Not a bad value. They have the 600MHz, 40GB, with CDRW for the $500 - $600 range. Not too bad, but I'm in for the iBook. If anyone finds any of them, could you mail me or post it?

Thanks a ton! I survived an hour in traffic and counted like 5 car accidents just to find out they ran out of iBooks already! Now that's dedication!

why the hell do people say YMMV, how in the world does that say anything about the deal. Isn't it obvious that for any b & m deal that ymmv. What a dumb acronym.

HA, hillarious. There is milk at your grocery store. Should I say YMMV? No, chances are it's really there. There are hard drives at CompUSA on sale this weekend. Yeah it's in the flyer .. you think it's YMMV? Now go back and read this thread again and you will realize that in this case, it's extremely chancey you'll get this deal.

Hey all

I found a bunch of iBooks. Seem to hover between $900 for the one with just a CD drive and $1200 for the DVD/CDRW model. Can anyone give me an idea of where you found the iBook for $1000? One of my friends got on in Indiana for $600 earlier today.

Thanks

actually CC is liquidating all of their mac inventory. There are Hot deals on all mac products at the store but the stock is running out really fast. I think you should update the title to this. or we'll have to start another thread.

MAC OS X is the BEST operating system IMO.

Heheh, you don't know what you're missing bud.

No orange clamshell. Cool white with a translucent shell. (Yeah, I hated that orange thing too.)

Can't be easily upgraded. Well of course, it's laptop. I have added a wireless card and an extra 512 MB RAM though, as well as some Firewire peripherals. (See sig.)

2 operating systems? Yeah, one with the stability of Unix (because it is Unix) and the ease of use better than XP. The other one (OS 9) is suck though.

No floppy drive. Yeah, and I'm glad - I basically never use floppies on my desktops (Win XP, 2000, NT) and laptop (iBook). I do have an external USB powered zip drive though, that I share with various computers. (I use an IDE zip drive with the NT box though.)

Overpriced? You tell me: Firewire (powered, which is almost impossible to find on PC laptops). AV out USB, VGA, 56K modem, 10/100 Ethernet all built-in. As I said, my laptop has the optional 802.11b, internal (which is again very difficult to find in a PC laptop). Mine has a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive. Stereo speakers. Best of all, it's under 5 lbs with everything above. I looked hard, and I found zero PC laptops with the same specs, even for $2000. If you can get all of the above for $1009, that's a smokin' deal, even without the wireless card and extra memory. (Normal price is 50% more, at $1499.)

Hey all

I got an iBook! Woohoo! Paid $750 for just the laptop. Open box at CC....had to drive an hour and 45 minutes in each direction for it, but it was a nice drive. Got to see areas I had never seen. To show the dedication this took, I was out until 4am Saturday morning, got up at 8am the same day and started driving to get the last one! Great deal! Mine's only a 500MHz model, but it does have the Combo Drive (CDRW/DVD), so I figure that makes it worth it. Apple sells the 500MHz with CD for almost $1200 on their site......the same with just a DVD player is almost $1300......so I figure this has to retail for something in that range, being that it has the same RAM, System Bus speed and CPU, but my Hard Drive is only 10GB, those are 15 on the site. Probably evens out? Anyway, I don't think I'll need a HUGE drive on this thing, I have a Quicksilver G4 with 100GB of hard drive in it, an G4 OS X Server with 80GB and an Athlon XP with 40GB.

Thanks for the heads up on this!
