Potential savings for Verizon Wireless customers

I don't know how this is going to work out for many of you. I don't know why this deal appeared for me and I don't know if it will appear for you. If it does, you may be able to save as much as 8% on your Verizon Wireless bill.

We recently got new phones and with it a new plan. As a retiree of a major corporation that has an agreement with Verizon I am entitled to 21% off certain portions of my bill. With the change of phones and plan, that discount got lost in the shuffle. So, I went looking for how to reinstate it.

At the above link I was offered up to 8% off my bill. I had only to supply some information they already had for verification of my eligibility and I then got confirmation of the savings. I quickly realized that I was probably eligible for more of a savings and I called and got my 21% reinstated. No double dipping so the 8% went away.

If some of you on Verizon want to check this out, and if it pans out, great. If it doesn't pan out the thread should be locked. I have no way of knowing if this was something that appeared for me that won't appear for you.

I wouldn't say this is hot, it's just a work discount. I get 22% off with my work place but it's not on the entire bill, only the plan or master line if you are on an older plan. My plan also provides 25% off non Apple accessories and free new line activations.

Pretty standard, and most of the major carriers do this. I've had 17% off of AT&T for 10 years now. Still a good reminder for those that don't check if they get a discount or not, and it's worth mentioning that anybody on a major network should check (it's not just a verizon thing).

I originally got my discount just from using my university email address, because that's all that AT&T could go by. Since both faculty and students had the exact same email domains, both students and teachers got 17% off even though I don't think it was intended for students at all.
