I did not know exactly where to do this, but i guess i could try here. ok so heres my question
im building a new computer, and when the 5870x2 comes out, i plan to be two of them and run crossfire. ill be running a 2.66ghz i7 processor and overclocking it quite heavily and ddr3 2000 memory. The question i have is, what wattge powersupply should i get?

two 5870x2 cards in crossfire for a 23inch monitor? a single 5870 is great for 1920 and a 5870x2 is almost complete overkill so why would you need TWO 5870x2 cards for that res? hell that would be like running EIGHT 4870 cards! lol

You're probably going to want 1000-1200W for that, looking at your current rig, you like overclocking so yeah. 1000-1200W.

Will you be using the Samsung Eyefinity monitors? If so can you please take pics of your set-up and post them on this forum?

The Samsung "eyefinity" monitors are supposed to have much thinner bezels (although I wouldn't say they are ultra thin). They are supposed to be somewhere around ~$200 each making even the six monitor set-up somewhat affordable.

oh okay. you might still be quite pleased with a single 5870x2 for that setup too though. I guess you can always make that decision later and adding another single 5870 to the 570x2 might be an option too. anyway you certainly need to be looking at some high quality 1000 watt power supplies if you are considering running a very overclocked i7 and two 5870x2 cards.

actually the eyefinity6 5870 will have 6 mini-displayport on one card.

those samsung panel bezels dont look nearly thin enough to be much of an improvement over u2410. unless they are cpva, it really wouldn't be worth it.

Hopefully the Samsung Eyefinity monitors are very similar to these---->http://www.samsung.com/us/cons...dx?pagetype=prd_detail sharing both 1080p and 23" diagonal length in common.

Does Cpva cost a lot more than typical LCDs? (Because the 23" 1080p Eyefinity monitors are supposed to be pretty affordable)

Also, normal 5870s can run 3 panels on their own as long as you have a DP monitor or DP to something adapter.

You'll want the biggest PSU you can afford. In this case going overboard is probably a good thing. A good 1000W PSU should be enough, though. You'll certainly want to make sure there is at least 75-80 amps available on the +12V rails.
