Recently, I have found that when I shutdown my system, it won't power down afterwords.
What happens is that the OS (Windows XP), completes the shutdown procedure, the monitor goes into power save, yet the you can still hear all the fans (case, motherboard, CPU, power supply), the case lights remain illuminated and are unresponsive. The only way to cut power is to flip the breaker on the power supply. When I flip the break back on, the computer still remains off.
I've got an old MSI 939 Motherboard, running Windows XP.
I've reseated all power leaves from power supply to motherboard.
I've reset the BIOS to default values.
I've booted the OS in safe mode and attempted to restart there.
None of these actions has corrected the problem. Is this a motherboard or power supply issue. I'm not seeing any other issues in the system its just this single issue.
