Power Down Issue

Recently, I have found that when I shutdown my system, it won't power down afterwords.

What happens is that the OS (Windows XP), completes the shutdown procedure, the monitor goes into power save, yet the you can still hear all the fans (case, motherboard, CPU, power supply), the case lights remain illuminated and are unresponsive. The only way to cut power is to flip the breaker on the power supply. When I flip the break back on, the computer still remains off.

I've got an old MSI 939 Motherboard, running Windows XP.

I've reseated all power leaves from power supply to motherboard.
I've reset the BIOS to default values.
I've booted the OS in safe mode and attempted to restart there.

None of these actions has corrected the problem. Is this a motherboard or power supply issue. I'm not seeing any other issues in the system its just this single issue.

I have the same problem with my DFI S939 board. Nothing you can do about it and its not really a problem. Its just the board misses sending the kill signal to the PSU so it will shut down.

Same deal here. If I power off the monitor before it shuts down completly. If I let the system shut down completly THEN turn off the monitor it does fine. I don't think it's a psu or hardware prob. As best I can recall it started after changing from crt to the monitor I have now. Likley a setting off somewhere.

That seams very odd. Mine has nothing to do with the montior(s). Mine is definatly a random hardware issue.

If you boot in safe mode (everyone - not any one poster) does it then shut down normally?
