Power Inverter

Only does 75Watts which I'm not sure is enough, but they list it as being useful for laptops and small TVs. Hmmm... Everything else is $40 or more and has 140Watts.


Here's one from Staples that is 140Watts. This one is $28 but twice the power.

I'm getting one just to watch movies on my laptop on long trips. Beats buying a $150 battery that will die off after 2-3 hours.

I think 75W should be enough. I just looked at the AC adapter to my HP and it is 19V and 3.16Amps. If I remember my physics correctly, P=IV, so 19*3.16=60W.
Just bought one myself...
Edit: Didn't know onvia had free shipping. $18.31 is a lot cheaper than $150 for the LiOn battery.

ya, the inverter should be enough. 19.5 * 3 = 58.5 watts
This is a really good deal. I've seen inverters at OD for $100, radioshack has them for $80. Granted, this one does less power, but its sufficient for the needs of a laptop.

Thanks for the deal; I've also ordered one; I think it will do fine with most laptops. The one from staples has more power handling, but I don't know if it's necessary (unless you want to plug in 2 laptops at the same time hehe ).

Dealgod: Any tape adapter with a standard audio jack should work fine, provided your laptop has a "audio out" jack.

Another option, if your deck has AUX inputs, is to get a mini-din to RCA jack, and wire it to that. Then you can switch your deck to AUX and run the mp3's from your laptop whenever you want.

More and more people are buiding computer systems into their cars and getting MP3 features to work this way. a mounted LCD panel and a mini-keyboard in the car will get you a hell of a lot of stares.

DO NOT GET THE WISTLER! READ this first!

I have the wistler, and it does whistle. Basicly, when I connected my Dell laptop to it and tried to play MP3s I get a loud ~120hz whistle, VERY loud. Anyway with a good surge protector(Tripplite), i pretty much solved it, but that is a lot of extra room just to clean the sound, especially when it still whines a bit. So maybe I have a defective one that is somehow missing a capacitor on the output, but it is very annoying. The most ironic part is the name. Anyway I would have returned it, but I did not play mp3 on my dell for a while.

That's what a watt is. 1A of current at 1V.
