Power of Ethernet Questions

So I'm setting up multiple access points that are POE capable. This is my first time mucking around with POE, so one question:

In order for POE to work, do you need a POE adapter/injector switch? Or can you just plug and play from the router to access point without adapter?

That is a POE capable switch, with native POE you do not need injectors.

Just to further this, you cannot have any non-POE devices between the POE switch or an injector and the end point that needs to receive POE.

So it can be router, to POE switch, to POE camera (or access point, or whatever). It cannot be router, to POE switch, to second switch to POE camera, or POE switch, to router, to POE camera.

You also have to make sure that the Network cables are full cable with all pairs.

Some cables (mainly the cheapos that come free with inexpensive devices) might not have all pairs and thus the leads for the POE might be missing.

P.S., it is Power Over Ethernet.

Please note that the PoE switch you linked to is 24 volts while the majority of PoE devices are 48v. Make sure that the PoE voltage is the same on all devices.

That switch is not really POE, it doesn't use 802.11at or 802.11af.

Get a real switch that has a real industry standard POE.
